SANTA ANA – Deputy Coroners, meet "Manny the Mannequin."

At about 80 pounds, this balding silicone dummy is the newest addition to the Orange County Sheriff Department's coroner division. With porous skin, varicose feet and human hair, the life-like mannequin was purchased by the sheriff's department with a grant to add a new dimension to their training, authorities said.

In their Santa Ana headquarters, the sheriff's coroner division has used dummies in their training before, but none are as life-like as this newest addition. The dummy comes from a Burbank company that has spawned similar creations for recent television shows such as Nip/Tuck and Grey's Anatomy

The studio regularly charges between $40,000 to $60,000 for the dummy, but the cost was covered through the state grant, Berndt said

Good thing the state of California has no budget problems.

LOL!

Hiring AlGore would be way too expensive.

Just sniping, but his mouth doesn't look quite right to me. I would think the slackness would be in the jaw and not in the lips, but the dead folks I've seen were either somewhat less dead than this dude, or considerably more.

A Realdoll can be gotten for $6,000.

but the cost was covered through the state grant

So because it's a State grant, paying 10 times too much is okay.
