Police Use Taser on Kent Resident (Resdient Saves Family From Burning Home)

Police used a Taser gun to restrain a resident outside of his home on Crain Avenue as it burned at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

The resident, Mike Bartlett, said he was returning from downtown for his cell phone when he noticed his sister's room on fire. He ran in to make sure she was not there and continued to find his friends in the basement and alert them of the fire. He said his cousin's girlfriend was sleeping upstairs so he went back in the house to retrieve her.

"As I was running downstairs, I could hear the window glass popping because of the heat," Bartlett said.

When he went got outside, Bartlett said police officers were at the end of the driveway. He said he approached them for help, but they dismissed him. As he walked toward one of his friends, he said the officers tackled and restrained him with the Taser gun, giving them no reason for their force.

According to the Kent City Police levels of resistance report, Bartlett used psychological and physical active resistance to avoid arrest. The report stated he was both combative and intoxicated. No one from the Police Department was available for comment.

Bartlett said he was not offered medical attention by the officers. Instead, he was taken directly to the police station. Bartlett went to the hospital following his court appearance Sunday. He said he was treated for first- and second-degree burns.

Bartlett's trial is set for December. The Red Cross helped the displaced family of four, which does not include any Kent State students. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

The Police are going to need special powers to deal with this new breed of rogue telepaths. Just tazering them from behind isn’t going to be enough.

Wow it looks like Kent PD luv’s them some tazers!

Taser Trouble In Kent

Kent City police taser a man after they say he resisted arrest. It happened around four Saturday morning after police say they were responding to noise complaints from a party at the College Tower apartments.

The college students and young adults at the party, admit that went police knocked on the door, they didn’t answer it right away.

“As soon as we heard knocking and everything like that, everything went off,” said Daran McFarland.

“We told everybody to chill out, put everything away.”

Daran Mcfarland’s girfriend, Jackie, who does not want to be identified, finally opened the door to police and, moments later, was in handcuffs.

“So I went to open the door, and as i cracked it, my wrist got grabbed by the police officer and he pushed me down on the ground and was stradeling me.”

Cell phone video, captured by a witness at the party, shows McFarland, with his hands up, and a Kent police offer, tasing him.

“The first time he shocked me i didn’t know what was going on,” said McFarland.

“I thought it was a gun from what I saw, so I was actually scared for my life for a couple seconds there.”

Kent City Police gave us a copy of the police report, but they wouldn’t answer any of our questions on camera.

Police charged both McFarland and Jackie with unlawful noise and resisiting arrest.

They have a pre-trial scheduled for October 8th.

It means he tried to explain to the cop what was going on. Fool. It astounds me that people actually think they have the right to talk to a police officer. What is so hard to understand about the requirement to scream "thank you sir, may I have another" as you are grabbed, slammed and tazed? Stupid extremist domestic terrorists deserve what they get. Probably didn't even avert his eyes when he dared to try to talk to them. Insolent jerk.

That’s what I was thinking too.

I remember thinking how these alleged “Hate Crimes” would probably create problems of this nature when they were proposed. Always thought they were stupid, feel good Leftist proposals as necessary as engine block warmers in Hawaii.

...psychological active resistance?

He had the audacity to not grovel when faced with their uniform fueled machismo.

When he turned his back on them, their badges shriveled a little bit and they had to throw a beat down on him to try to regain alpha status.

Ah... Kent State. Now I see.

Seems to be lots missing from this story. I don’t think even the nastiest of cops would tase a guy just bringing somebody out of a fire... something else was going on here, methinks.
