Democrats say reform before end of year is highly unlikely.
Senior Congressional Democrats told ABC News today it is highly unlikely that a health care reform bill will be completed this year, just a week after President Barack Obama declared he was "absolutely confident" he'll be able to sign one by then.
"Getting this done by the by the end of the year is a no-go," a senior Democratic leadership aide told ABC News. Two other key Congressional Democrats also told ABC News the same thing.
This may come as an unwelcome surprise for the White House, where officials from the president on down have repeatedly said the health care bill would be signed into law by the end of the year.

REPUBLICAN TAKES NJ BY 5%..."
More wins for conservatives. What a great Election Day.
It wasn't "reform" anyway!
[My mother told me never to speak badly of the dead. Shes dead....Good. Bette Davis/Joan Crawford]
We can safely say that Health care “reform”is a dead stick.
look’s like public option is dead if any moderate/blue dog dems want to win next year..
You're not going to get it done in 2010 an election year either. The Rats throwing in the towel?
Beware! This ain’t over yet. The Dems could put death care on the back burner for a while; then push it through when we aren’t looking.
What’s the Yogi Berra saying??? The game’s not over until it’s over.
“The Rats throwing in the towel?”
At least temporarily, but let’s not let our guard down.
this illustrate that there are alot of DEMS who are more concerned about their own jobs then doing the right thing for their ideology. The worst type of politicans imho. We have them on the GOP side as well. Self serving individuals
“Beware! This aint over yet. The Dems could put death care on the back burner for a while; then push it through when we arent looking.”
I agree, but it shows what we conservatives can do if we keep on fighting, so let’s KEEP ON FIGHTING.
Yup, we need to get rid of self-serving and liberal Dems AND Republicans.
Does this mean I won’t get my end-of-life counseling now?
Oh, damn!
Just want to add: Tuesday was a great day for conservatism, including social conservatism. Maine repealed gay marriage.
If Hoffman won, it would have been perfect, but he’ll probably win next year, and on this Election Day we won a LOT! I’m so happy, I can’t sleep.
“Does this mean I wont get my end-of-life counseling now?”
For the time being, but we need to keep fighting. The devil always comes back.
I HOPE that the whole damn bill is dead... (now they are saying it might be pushed back AGAIN -- how many times will that make the delay, four, more?)
Per my sig, this is NOT about health care (or insurance), it's about someone being able to lay claim to health care, with their name attached to it. Their LEGACY, paid for by us. PERIOD

I was going to say as well..they aint getting it in 2010 either, so they can just FORGET IT.
Interestingly, I went to see an eye doc in Canada once. He told me to google the problem myself. What a guy.
I think Michele Bachmann’s upcoming rally has a lot to do with this, as well as the Dems seeing how badly they were doing in the polls.
From Rush, on Michele’s rally:

It’s already bad for the Dems in this election WITHOUT passage of Obamacare. Imagine the outright crushing blow to Dems in 2010 if Obamacare were to pass.
It's dead Jim.

If they don’t get it done this year, they certainly will not get it done. There is no way they’ll vote for this next year during the election cycle. Same with Cap and Tax.
The Democrats said they would get it before Thanksgiving Day.
LoL!
(Haven’t seen Bones in too long a while)
We are keeping our country, Mr. Obama or whatever or whoever you really are.

“Death panels”
This is a Republican opportunity. It is not enough just to block Obamacare. The U.S. health care system has some serious problems, and there are several perfectly sensible things that could be done tomorrow, that would make a signficant difference, and that don't involve a federal takeover.
Republicans should come forward immediately with a stripped down list of action items. I'd start with three items: tort reform; the ability to buy health insurance across state lines; and tax equalization for individually purchased vs. employer provided plans. This stuff is all on the shelf. Our guys are already committed to it. The issue is whether the GOP leadership will summon the energy to press the fight, or just give it lip service.
The theme should be "Let's fix the things we can all agree about." The political message that needs to be pounded home is that it's the Democrats who are blocking real health insurance reform, and that they're doing so because they're holding it hostage to a hidden agenda of government control.
It just kind of gets old fighting to be left alone every day. Look where that got us with the execrable hate^H^H^H^Hthought crime bill, recently signed into law by the proud campaigner for Corzine & Deeds.
He's dead Jim. You grab his tricorder, I'll grab his wallet.
DANER, DANGER, Put us off our guard alert!
V for victory is a very in your face ‘Can you hear us NOW!’ moment for the Rats on both sides of the aisle.

I think they'd still be willing to use the nuclear option or stick it in under another bill at midnight.
I don't trust this report for a second.
Extremely well put and I couldn’t agree more! I will echo the same sentiments to my GOP reps.
I agree. They’re not going to get Obamacare or Cap and Tax passed in an election year. They’re not going to hand those issues to conservatives to campaign on with their unpopularity.
It’s possible they may try to tinker around the edges passing some little things just so Obama and the Democrat Congress can claim some sort of victory. As for the whole shebang, zip, sero, nada.
So, despite Reid's assertion, they plan to get this passed by November 2010.
Maybe he said the game’s not over until the fat lady sings.
Health Care & Cap’n Trade (sic) are DEAD.
Blue Dogs, you followed your poodle off a cliff. Watch to see how much backpeddling and seperation folks from all but the bluest of blue districts start doing trying to seperate themselves from their blind support of the poodle.
If you aren’t from the bluest of blue districts, and you supported the bailouts, health care, cap’n trade or any of the other nonsense this poodles been pushing... Better put your resume’s. Doesn’t matter if you are an R or a D, you butt’s toast.
“This may come as an unwelcome surprise for the White House, where officials from the president on down have repeatedly said the health care bill would be signed into law by the end of the year.”
Of course, nearly everything the WH has said about health reform has either been inaccurate or a flagrant lie, so why should this erroneous prognostication have been any different? This is what happens when HOPE collides with REALITY.
Scholars will devote years of scribbling trying to figure out whether Obama was merely delusional or simply yet another calculating liberal Dem liar in his plethora of dead-wrong claims about health reform.

From my email from Coral Ridge Ministries:
“Please Take Action.
Please consider taking one of the following actions.
1) Pray that wisdom prevails and that Congress does the right thing.
2) If you can, please come to Washington, D.C. for Thursdays rally at noon at the U.S. Capitol building on the House side.
3) Or visit your congressmens district office locally.
4) Call the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 or (202) 225-3121 and ask for your congressmans office.”
They’ll pass it on New Year’s Day when no one is paying attention.
“Theyll pass it on New Years Day when no one is paying attention.”
Could be.
Call the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 or (202) 225-3121 and ask for your congressmans office, and if you can, visit their hometown office. Pelosi is expected to have the vote Friday or Saturday.
Let’s make the congresscritters more afraid of their constituents than they are of Nancy Pelosi.
