Yes, he has made millions of dollars from his documentaries which attack the profit motive of the capitalist system, and this does indeed look like the most embarrassing irony for him. But when you understand him, or at least when you understand his misunderstanding of capitalism, you will see that he is not in fact consciously contradicting himself. He is merely a victim of a common but very subtle economic fallacy that has afflicted societies since ancient times.

An unfortunately too-short excerpt. The article is worth reading for its refutation of the fallacy that people and industries that “do not make things” (typically referring to bankers) are inherently distasteful or evil.
Obvious examples he notes of industries that “do not make things”, in addition to banking, are insurance and transportation / shipping. Oh those evil railroad robber barons.

Good article with one small exception - ascribing any level of intellectual acuity to Sean Hannity. Otherwise, I love reading anything that uses Dr. Sowell’s economic analysis to reinforce fundamental truths.

A recent analysis of Michael Moore described him as being confused on terminology. Moore actually hates bosses, but confuses authority with capitalism. Probably explains why the bestubbled Moore lasted exactly one day on an automobile assembly line.

Good article with one small exception - ascribing any level of intellectual acuity to Sean Hannity.Amen, brother. I'm furious that Fox News refused to give up O'Reilly and Hannity for actual full-time election coverage. There's little more annoying than Hannity's screeching voice trying to sound knowledgable.
That said, I think the article's point is good -- the middleman performs a valuable economic function or he wouldn't exist. But he's giving Moore too much credit. The fat fool just hates capitalism for anyone except film-makers. His first film about the GM CEO, Roger and Me (I?) wasn't about financiers or retailers.

The article is worth reading for its refutation of the fallacy that people and industries that do not make things (typically referring to bankers) are inherently distasteful or evil.Well, lumping them all together is a very old liberal trick. Wall street is not comparable to insurance or transportation.
The main service they provide is helping themselves.
Plus they have an exaggerated opinion of what their "service" is worth. Particularly at the top.
