RIYADH (Reuters) - A Saudi court of cassation upheld a ruling to behead and crucify a 22-year-old man convicted of raping five children and leaving one of them to die in the desert, newspapers reported on Tuesday.

International rights groups have accused the kingdom, the birthplace of Islam, of applying draconian justice, beheading murderers, rapists and drug traffickers in public.

The body is more important in Islam. According to Islamic law, a body must be buried within 24 hours of death in order for judgement to take place and Allah to welcome them to paradise (with exceptions if they die in Jihad).

By displaying the body for several days, it is their way of assuring that the criminal does not have a chance at judgement and therefore will never enter paradise.

That makes me wonder how young the children were. islamic countries marry off 8 year olds and think nothing of it. In order for this sentence to be given makes me think that the victims were VERY young. Young enough to cause outrage in SA.
