HOUSTONA grand jury will decide whether to press charges against a pregnant woman who, police say, shot and killed a burglar. The ordeal began when the unidentified woman saw a group of men allegedly breaking into cars at her apartment complex on Pinemont in northwest Houston late Monday night. When the group moved on to her car, the woman, who is eight-months pregnant, said she fired a shotgun from her balcony. One of the men died, say police. The others fled the scene in a black truck.

I don’t understand the problem. The woman deserves an award. Double award if the deceased was a member of ACORN (given the propensity for crime, this idiot probably is...or was).

I believe that criminal mischief at night falls under Texas’s “needs shooting” laws, so she should be fine. Any Texas lawyers available to comment? (I’m not one and this comment is NOT legal advice.)

It is not healthy for a perp to be vandalizing property at night in Texas.

I dont understand the problem. The woman deserves an award. The problem is that the maggots from New Orleans that are terrorizing Houston are now some kind of protected class.

The problem is that the maggots from New Orleans that are terrorizing Houston are now some kind of protected class. Exactly! Houston suffered far more damage as a result of Katrina than New Orleans. The cesse pool that is Lousiana was flushed into Texas and now we have to suffer their presence and criminality.

Yeah but in Texas 'protected class' just means we give it a hunting season. ;-)

Yeah but in Texas 'protected class' just means we give it a hunting season. ;-) Under the Nuremburg Laws, Jews and Gypsies were "protected persons." God help the protected class.

Why is this being brought before a grand jury, d’ya know? So they can "nobill" her. They will refuse to press charges, and no future prosecutor can dig up the case and ask another grand jury to press chages without new evidence. It's a protection agains future politically ambitious DA's reopening cases decades later. After all homicide and murder have no statutes of limitation.

Ah, it was probably just a disadvantaged yute doing research so he could counsel his customers down at ACORN on the best techniques for defeating the car alarms.

Great shooting lady! She might consider a rifle next time so no shot pellets hit the vehicles in the parking lot. Might be able to get more than 1 scumbag with the shot if she uses a rifle with jacketed ammo, too.

Kind of a judgment call there. A ricocheting bullet would do more damage.
