Commerce Secretary Gary Locke told Bloomberg TV today that a second economic stimulus is "being hotly discussed and very seriously considered within the administration as well as members of Congress."
Not surprisingly, this news triggered a spasm of backtracking: Locke's spokesman now says he was being "imprecise."

I wonder where the 10% comes from. The BLS figures for October come out November 6th. The current unemployment rate (W) is 9.8%.

I did some rough calculations a few weeks ago and figured out that if just the taxpayers received funds directly from the stimulous and bail out money, the checks (or tax breaks) would have amounted to about $15K per tax payer (per filed taxes that paid the fed).
I wonder how that would have stimulated the economy?
You bet it is.
They can only estimate by how many are receiving unemployment. Many more out there with no unemployment compensation that cannot be counted accuratley.
why dont they just take the unspent part of the original stimulus and use it to help create jobs instead of enrich their liberal buds.

IMO, the psychology behind it would be that if they passed a 2nd stimilus they would have a “talking point” in the run-up to the 2010 election. They could say during the campaigns that the 2nd stimulus “hasn’t kicked in yet” and “once it kicks in we’ll see improvement in jobs numbers.” They know that if there is no 2nd stimulus to use an excuse for what is GOING to happen (notice I’m not saying the 2nd stimulus will work, just that they’ll say it’s going to work in the future to restore jobs), the 2010 election is going to be a dismal failure for the Dems.
What happened to the money from the first stimulus? Deposited into overseas accounts of certain select individuals, I’m sure.

Plus, Commerce is going to “hire” 1 million people to “work on the census” in the Spring. There’s a million “jobs” right there.

You aren’t far off. Where is the 17.5 billion stimulus money that has been parked in New Jersey for close to six months? Bet you can’t find it. Several of us bankers have tried.

How many millions per 'saved' job will this cost us?
The figures on the clunkers program estimate it cost $25,000 for each car sold.
The only folk that benefited was the auto outfits - and only temporarily as only the people who could afford a new car payment and new car insurance, bought them - THAT MONTH - and then car sales went into the toilet. No real net gains.
And the truth about the phony 'jobs created' numbers comes out - lying through their teeth.
YOu want jobs? Do NOT let the tax cuts expire in Jan...get off small businesses backs.
But do they really WANT more jobs - or less? After all, one of the top musts of the commie way to take over a country is first to destroy it - and rampant unemployment is one of the keys.
AS disconcerting as these actions of this administration is, it's even more so that they do it all so blatantly, as though they aren't worried about the next election...as if they aren't planning on there BEING another election.

The flu vaccine is trickling out way behind - and take this example: In my daughters school where she has 3 children, they have sent home permission slips to be signed ahead of time - but they have no choice is which they will have - the nose live virus or the shot - as the school doesn't know which they are going to get.
No permission from my daughter and hubby.
The gov't has 'controlling the riot of people trying to get the vaccine' exercises across the country during the summer - then a week or so ago the pres. declares a state of emergency = and then the gov't doesn't have near the amount of promised vaccine ready - (and it still largely untested)
OH yeah. We need these people in charge of health care...not that it's a "health"car bill - it is a Socialist take over bill.

About three months before next years elections you will see that money being spent on "shovel ready" projects in contested districts. Each one will have a lib paper showing a photo of a Dem congresscritter handing out money to some local Dem flunky or some community organizer. They will show people with actual shovels or tools of some sort digging holes in the desert or knocking down deserted buildings. The caption on the headlined photo will be: "See what Obama and the Dems are doing for you." After the election all the "shovel ready" projects will be abruptly abandoned. To wait for the next election.
I think Obama is salivating at what cash for clunkers did to GDP. He’s gonna do this on a massive scale going into the 2010 elections just in time for the news to trumpet 5 or 6% growth. There will be no attention paid to the 500 billion or so pillaged from us. I’m telling you, he has found the ultimate fundraiser with these bailouts.
But they haven’t even finished handing out the bribes that represents the first one...
The democrats have closed door huddles on the health care bill - and CHANGE the LOCKS to keep out any republicans (yet Rahmmm is in there with them) - and no one dare call it a COUP? Watch for more stealth bills to get out guns - first through requiring all guns be registered - so's they know where every one is = preparatory to another law to collect them.
That's how Hitler did it. First, they have to know who has what guns.
They also are still trying to get through the marked ammo law. That would have every bullet manufactured -marked. And; everyone who bought ammo would have to register that sale...then, bingo, they know who has guns and what guns, by the ammo they buy...and that ammo will be coded to YOU.
The law, if they sneak it through (they tried last spring, but the NRA was on it and it got shelved - but they will try again, sneak it through inside some other bill having nothing to do with it -
anyway, part of that law will outlaw reloading and require you to turn in all old, unmarked ammo.
Can't you just see all the gun owners handing in their ammo? yeah, right. "Ah, gosh, I done already shot all that off!" (Prove different, Mr. Dictator.)
But they do have another registration of ammo bought bill coming up. JOin the NRA - they'll keep you informed ahead, and we need their support - and they need the bucks to do it.
