UN secretary general calls for increase in pledged funding for climate change
Guardian UK ^ | November 3, 2009 | Damian Carrington

Money paid by rich countries to fight global warming will have to "be scaled up" from the $100bn a year on offer, the UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon said today.

Developing nations are demanding significant new funding at the climate negotiations, which are continuing this week in Barcelona, and deep cuts in rich country emissions in exchange for pledges to curb their own fast growing carbon emissions.

A critical issue, he said, was a lack of trust between developed and developing nations, which a suitably large financial settlement would help to bridge.

"Too many countries have domestic problems," he added, without naming the US and the difficulty President Obama faces getting his climate bill through the Senate.

At least they are getting more bold and open about the real agenda here. We are getting close to actually having them admit,

"We want a uniform transfer of wealth from the US to other nations to be brokered and managed by the UN. Global Warming is the vehicle for that and we all need to be on board."

UN secretary general calls for increase in pledged funding for climate change

This heading would be just as effective and meaningful if it read "UN secretary general calls for increase in pledged funding for Baal." Climate change nonsense is nothing more than idolatry, IMO!

Mankind has nothing to do with climate. Our climate is affected by the Sun, as are all the other planets in our solar system. If you look outside you will see weather caused by water vapor, a greenhouse gas. Water vapor, as a part of our water cycle is the source of our weather change, as driven by the Sun. I have yet to experience weather caused by carbon dioxide, a trace gas.

Climate change is when weather gradually grows warmer (average temperatures) or cooler over a number of years.

Move him and the UN to Kenya they need more hot air. Do not allow them to scam us into a new bogus tax.

"Money paid by rich countries to fight global warming will have to "be scaled up" from the $100bn a year on offer, the UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon said today."

"I think it can be a good start but it needs to be scaled up," said Ban."

"Development groups have estimated the money needed at up to $400bn a year. But the amount by which it would need to increase was uncertain, he said: "We have to see how measures are effective. As time goes by we may need to change arrangements."

"Ban's senior climate adviser, Janos Pasztor, added: "The needs are obviously much larger and it needs to be scaled up."

"Developing nations are demanding significant new funding at the climate negotiations, which are continuing this week in Barcelona, and deep cuts in rich country emissions in exchange for pledges to curb their own fast growing carbon emissions."

"A critical issue, he said, was a lack of trust between developed and developing nations, which a suitably large financial settlement would help to bridge."

I like the fact that their agenda is becoming more transparent. In 10 years or so, we might actually be able to have an honest discussion about what the UN wants from us. "The US is to hand over cash to the UN to distribute to other countries."
