JERUSALEM — The six members of an Israeli family murdered in their Rishon LeZion home on the weekend were likely stabbed to death by a professional killer, according to police.
Israelis reacted with horror to the murder of six members of the Oshrenko family.
Among the three generations of victims found stabbed to death on Saturday in their burning apartment were a three-year-old girl and four-month-old boy.
Police said the autopsy showed that the father of the children wrestled with the killer, Ha’aretz reported.
The family was buried on Sunday afternoon.
The members of the Oshrenko family killed were Revital, 3, and Netanel, 4 months; their parents, Tatiana, 28, and Dimitry, 32; and grandparents Edward and Ludmilla, both 56.
Tatiana and Dimitry were Russian migramts who operated clubs and a restaurant for Russian Israelis.
A police officer said: “Even by the standards of the Russian or Caucasian underworld, what took place in the apartment of this family was exceptional.”
Police on Sunday raided the restaurant in Rishon LeZion, questioning employees as well as the relatives and friends of the family. The investigation is under a media gag order.
Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu expressed “deep pain and shock” over the murders of the family, calling the violence “horrifying” and “terrible” at the beginning of Sunday’s regular Cabinet meeting.
The family had celebrated Revital’s birthday last Friday night. The next morning, fire fighters were called to the apartment to put out a fire and discovered the bodies upon breaking down the door to the apartment.
They said the victims had died from being stabbed and not due to the fire.
I wish Israel had the death penalty. This murderer will have a hot place in hell.
Your comment is very much to the point. I just posted a follow up article, and some MKs in Israel want to reintroduce the death penalty, because of this case.
Assuming that the accused is guilty, then what is the point of keeping him alive? How can you ever release someone who has repeated stabbed a whole family? Why should he get meals, when so many good people are hungry?
My guess is this is a Russian mob hit but could be Islam. Sadly the vast majority of American Jews voted with the Islamists.
The Israeli ones did not..

He is Russian Jewish. There is also an American up on serious charges, for other murders, you are probably thinking of him.
