Boehner: Obama Is Out of 'Excuses' in Delaying Afghanistan Troop Decision (yeppers)

President Obama has run out of "excuses" for delaying a decision on whether to send more U.S. troops to Afghanistan, House Minority Leader John Boehner said Monday after Afghan President Hamid Karzai was declared the winner of his nation's presidential election by default.

Obama administration officials had suggested that a decision on American troop levels should be withheld until Afghanistan's runoff election was over. But now that Karzai's challenger, Abdullah Abdullah, has dropped out of the race and handed the election over to Karzai for another five-year term, lawmakers are urging the U.S. president to finalize his overhaul of America's war strategy.

"Now that it is clear that President Karzai will remain in office, the White House has no further pretext for delaying the decision on giving General McChrystal the resources he needs to achieve our goals in Afghanistan," Boehner said in a statement Monday. "There are no more excuses."

Obama is delaying for multiple reasons:

His grass-roots are already angry with him for not bringing them home immediately.
He does not want the backlash to have an effect on the voter turnout.
He is afraid of the bad press about increasing the number of troops in a war while going to pick up his "Peace Prize".
He's weak.

“obama has to make a choice and quit leaving the troops under manned.”

***

I’m willing to bet he will sacrifice our troops over there for the sake of political expediency.

Methinks the Golden Boy’s luster is wearing off. I sure hope so.

Boener, you and your party had better grow a pair and attack the Democrats with a bullwhip from now until 2010.

If you don’t you’ll be powersharing with the Conservative Party.

For Obama it’s as if the world began 8 1/2 years ago when Bush came to power. No bad things ever happened during the Clinton years and there’s nothing at all before that. No college records, no paper trail on him of any sort, no kindergarten records. We’re in our 9th year AB and Obama is out of touch with anything historical beyond his knee-jerk need to blame Bush (and Fox News) for all that is wrong with the world.

I think that Obama just realized that from here on out this war is all his, and he remembers what happened to the Russians. This is one of those presidential decisions that can follow you into history.

Unless the Rules of Engagement are removed from the handcuffing they create on our troops, we should not put more troops in. Adding more easy targets for the enemy is not good strategy.

• I EXPECT LEADERS AT ALL LEVELS TO SCRUTINIZE AND LIMIT THE USE OF FORCE LIKE CLOSE AIR SUPPORT AGAINST RESIDENTIAL COMPOUNDS AND OTHER LOCATIONS LIKELY TO PRODUCE CIVILIAN CASUALTIES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS GUIDANCE....THE USE OF AIR TO GROUND MUNITIONS AND INDIRECT FIRES AGAINST RESIDENTIAL COMPOUNDS IS ONLY AUTHORIZED UNDER VERY LIMITED AND PRESCRIBED CONDITIONS......
....ANY ENTRY INTO AN AFGHAN HOUSE SHOULD ALWAYS BE ACCOMPLISHED BY AFGHAN NATIONAL SECURITY FORCES, WITH THE SUPPORT OF LOCAL AUTHORITIES AND ACCOUNT FOR THE UNIQUE CULTURAL SENSITIVITIES TOWARD LOCAL WOMEN.
..NO ISAF FORCES WILL ENTER OR FIRE UPON,OR FIRE INTO A MOSQUE OR ANY RELIGIOUS OR HISTORICAL SITE EXCEPT IN SELF-DEFENSE. ALL SEARCHES AND ENTRIES FOR ANY OTHER REASON WILL BE CONDUCTED BY ANSF.
Excerpts from General McChrystal TACTICAL DIRECTIVE -6 JULY 09.
;
More than 1,000 American troops have been wounded in battle over the past three months in Afghanistan, accounting for one-fourth of those injured in combat since the U.S.-led invasion in 2001. Thank you obambi and McCoocoo.

We can't allow our military to be put in harms way by someone like obambi. He sees our casualties as a way of getting rid of political opposition.
