IMHO, the privacy of the polling booth makes these polls way off. Many don’t want to appear ‘bigoted’ or non-PC in answering a stranger. Especially when they see how public opponents of the gay agenda get attacked. I would not be surprised if the spread is closer to 10 points.

Yes, the traditional view is always under-polled because of the stifling political correctness many live under. Look at California, in which polls showed proposition 8 losing by a respectable margin. People vote their hearts in the privacy of a polling booth.

I am from Maine and am so anxious for this vote to be over with. The comment sections on on-line newspapers have been in attack mode from out of staters every time there is an article.It isn’t pretty. The manner in the way the question was written is mis-leading and I have heard some of the elderly are voting for gay-marriage. Just really sick and tired of it. If Question 1 passes, this will not be over. The next step to be taken by true Mainers will be to elect a conservative state legislative body and governor. Otherwise, the same repeated bombardment from the radical leftists can be expected.

when we down ehre had the question the homosexuals ran AD’s which were very misleading and trying to word it that if they voted no they were voting for normal marriage when in case it was supposed to be yes for normal marriage.
