More bleak data from the manufacturing sector: Tennessee factories has shed more than 56,000 jobs since September of 2007. The automotive sector accounts for more than 9,000 of those losses and has been laying off workers more quickly than the rest of the industry.

Rhetorically - how many civil servant jobs have been created in the same time?

My home town used to be a bee hive of industrial activity (saw mills, paper mills and associated manufacturers). Today, the only new buildings in that area are being by the state to process medical and social program cases.
