It's Barbara Boxer's big moment on Capitol Hill, and Republicans want nothing to do with it.
The California Democrat, who heads the Senate's environment committee, wants to begin marking up her long-awaited climate-change legislation on Tuesday. But Republicans are planning to boycott the meeting.
Sen. James Inhofe . . . wants the Environmental Protection Agency to do more analysis of the bill, which would place mandatory limits on the emission of greenhouse gases.
Boxer today urged Republicans on the committee to "come back to work" and help Democrats pass the legislation.

Republicans should boycott.
There is nothing to discuss. The premis of this a$$-9 legislation is that Man Made CO2 emmissons are going to destroy all mankind.
I would rather see them debate the consitutionality of national seatbelt laws than waste time on pushing this oppressive attack on American freedom and wealth.

Nope! The GOP cannot stop the vote, BUT the rules (or law?) require that at least 2 member of the opposing Party be present for the markup. They don't show, it doesn't happen.
Screw you Boxer.

"Come back to work" (and pass the legislation) Whatever happened to the Democrats PROBLEM with the politics of "my way or the highway"?
This is junk science. Where IS the middle ground?
When are we going to build the retaining wall to keep our oceans from draining off the edge of the world? Never mind that it ISN'T happening and would be a fool hardy folly. What is the budget for it?

Democrat politicans fled the state of Texas to block redistricting (word search Chicken Ds).
They know the formality of working on legislation.
Democrats want the power without the consensus.

So Babs, you idiots cut the Republicans out of all the meetings, hold them behind closed doors in secret, and then when you get all the crap you want put into it, you want the Republicans to vote your bill on through. It would be funny if not so tragic.

From a poster a couple of weeks ago - Republicans on the Senate Environment and Public Works committee will boycott the markup of the Kerry-Boxer climate bill if Chairwoman Barbara Boxer tries to take it up next week. ...........Democrats have a 12-7 majority on the committee, so Boxer doesn't need any Republican votes to pass the bill. But she does need them to show up to the markup. EPW rules require that at least two Republicans be present to move forward with the legislation.
I write the committee every other day urging the GOP to stay away from these meetings, and urge them to "WALK OUT FOR AMERICA", denying them a quorom.

By all accounts, Barbara Boxer is at the same time the dumbest of all Senators, and the most viciously partisan. Republicans are wise to learn never to do business with liberal fascists.
