How many people can they possibly expect to show up, in the middle of the work week, on less than 1 week’s notice? Really, c’mon.

JUST THINK FOLKS! IMAGINE IF SOMEONE HAD DONE THIS THE DAY BEFORE THEY ENACTED MEDICARE OR SOCIAL SECURITY

LETS DO IT!!

And I am beginning to NOT feel sorry for the geezers- whining about their ‘programs’ - They never should have voted themselves their grandchildren’s money in the first place...

I know! Lets pass a new ‘program’ - everyone gets $100,000 bonus this year and we ‘pay for it’ with an IOU for the year 3000

My wife and I would be there but we are flying to Israel on Thurdsay.

There were more than 500,000 who showed up on 9/12.

10% of that would be impressive...in the middle of a work work on less than 1 week's notice. Even 1% would be a pretty powerful statement.

Oh, and if you can’t get to DC, why don’t you and 100 of your closest friends go to your member’s local office. With TV cameras. That should be doable.

Check out the Americans for Prosperity page for Oregon. Or use their Local Congressional Office Search to find the local office. Get 100 or so of your closest friends to pay the Dhim a visit (along with some TV cameras).

Our founding fathers pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to give us our country. I think our sacrificing some time to go to Capitol Hill is very small by comparison. Furthermore, think of the men who stormed the beaches of Normandy and the men at Valley Forge who went without shoes. Our men at the Battle of the Bulge had shoe problems, too. This was in winter! So, nothing we sacrifice today can even compare to what those before us have done. :) JMHO

Ping to #14. Go pay the local office a visit. From the Missouri chapter page:

Congressional House Call Day - November 5th

Many of you have thankfully placed many calls to your Senators and Congressmen in support of health care reform but against the government run health care proposals in Washington. Those calls, petitions and other contacts have made an impact! The efforts to date have been successful in Washington being aware that they do not have a free hand to destroy the best health care system in the world. It’s not perfect by any means but it is the number one most responsive system around despite the incomplete stories big government supporters and the UN try to foist upon us!

As the health care debate has drawn on, we’ve heard from our contacts on Capitol Hill that calls and visits to the district offices make a big impact. One congressman even admitted that his D.C. staff are “calloused” and said the district offices are a better way to get a message through to the members.

So, we are working collaboratively with other groups in marshalling an effort to turn folks out to the district offices of senators and congressmen on November 5. As you know, Nancy Pelosi revealed the latest proposal for government controlled health care yesterday. It is more of the same, bad medicine for America and we must do all we can to stop it!

Speaker Pelosi plans to vote it out of the House on November 11. The Senate plans to begin “work” in earnest on the equally bad Majority Leader Harry Reid bill in the next week or so also. Combine this with the fact that we’ll be fresh off an election cycle which hopefully sends a loud message to Washington, many people will be politically aware and attuned to what is happening if they are not already.

Many of you have been engaged in the battle already and many more are needed. Working together, we have been able to achieve a lot in a short period of time. Now is the time to step it up even more and to get others engaged. You probably know one, two or more others who want to be engaged and make a difference. The Congressional House Call Day, November 5th will be just such an opportunity. Please join us!

When: Thursday, Nov. 5 , Noon- 1 p.m.

What: Congressional “House Calls” to Sen. McCaskill (any all state district offices – see below), Cong Carnahan and Skelton.

What to do: Gather with friends outside the district office at noon; ask to speak with a staff member. Explain your concerns about the health care proposals under consideration and deliver your letters, stories, petitions, etc.

RSVP: RSVP for Congressional House Call Day

What to bring: Bring your sign, your personal story of why you don’t want a Washington takeover of health care, and a hand-written letter for your member of Congress. Patients First, a project of AFP, will have an “Rx for Real Reform” prescription available for download from our Web sites, PatientsFirst and Americans for Prosperity. This will be a one-pager expressing the type of real reforms we’d like to see, as well as some things to vote NO on. You’re making a “House Call” — better bring the right prescription! Also, bring your camera and send us your pictures — we’d love to post them.

I doubt it will be a huge crowd but a couple of thousand following Michele through the hall of congress will be great!

Today is Monday, for anyone who is going, please look through the Zero Dollar archive and pick out any that you feel you'd want to use and handout to your reps or any politician you run into that day. For those that can't go, find the ones you like and MAIL them today to your reps so their office can get them by Friday. It isn't hard. there are almost 70 different Zero dollars to pick from that expres different problems with Obamacare and the administration in general. I've included the latest example and a link to the archive below:

For the whole series of Zero dollar bills, go here:

I’m going. And I have to go to Penn for homecoming then to the USS New York commissioning this weekend.

I’ve seen the faces of 90 year old Polish and Russian immigrants I visit, that are scared out of their minds at what’s happening in this country... they’ve seen it before.

This is life or death for all of us, even if some can’t understand the implications and fight us.

I’m going for the immigrants that lived through it (and those that didn’t), for those who are euthanized (whether in the Netherlands, Schiavo or in nursing homes today), freedom for future comers, for those in countries that come here for treatment (and benefit from our research, which you will not get after this), for what this country was founded and thrived on, freedom and individual rights for my children/grandchildren.

And thankfully, we got all our kids placed in schools early on the job.

Exactly.

You should have seen the USS New York today... with the WTC flag aloft (white, two dark towers, American flag across), with that 7 tons of steel from the WTC in the bow.

There are no words.

She is beautiful.
