Biden says NY-23 can teach conservatives a lesson

CNN) - Former Vice President Joe Biden challenged Republican voters in New York's 23rd congressional district to teach conservative "absolutists" a lesson in the special House election Tuesday by voting for the Democratic candidate in the race

"We aren't asking you to switch your party," Biden said at a rally for Democrat Bill Owens in Watertown, New York Monday morning. "We are just saying join us in teaching a lesson to those absolutists who say no dissent is permitted within your own party."

I am seeing this election as a “third party litmus test”. I see why the republican endorsed the Democrat. If this conservative wins, it could put Republicans around the nation in jeopardy. You would think this would be good for the democrats, making Biden’s remarks odd.

It is as if the two parties really are a sham, and it got exposed in this race.

It’s nothing to do with a third party. Hoffman is a Republican. This is the liberal vs the conservative Republican.

I have been listenting to the Dem. talking points all morning. It’s the old divide and conquer strategy. They have all been singing the same line that “unless you are a right wing hate monger you aren’t welcome in the Republican Party”. Isn’t it interesting that Democrats /Liberals are trying to define the Republican Party. We’ll know Wednesday if they were successful.

Thank God. That means the blue blood democrats are free to vote against Obomas Death Care Welfare bill without repercussions.
I was getting worried they'd be politically punished for not signing on. Silly me!

Hahaha yea, that’ll teach a lesson, vote for the socialist democrat if you are a republican. Be serious.

Dede, clearly was down to just the Party Loyalist in her support, and ever criticism that those “radical right wingers” levied against her she proved to be absolutely right when she endorced a socialist democrat.

Those party loyalist who were backing her were going to go to Hoffman or Stay home... by her betrayal, I guarantee they won’t be staying home and they sure as hell won’t be voting for the socialist dem.

Wow are they trying to create a narrative out of this election that just isn’t remotely palpable. They are getting pasted across the board. They absolute rejection of the socialist democratic party is underway, and they are trying to spin it as no big deal, its laughable.

Your main guy came down here and campaigned for these guys, don’t tell me the routing your folks are facing isn’t a statement about your guy or your party etc. Its absoluately laughable how they are trying to spin this disaster.

The point that “unless you are a right wing hate monger you aren’t welcome in the Republican Party”.

Is as valid as “Unless you are black, queer, or a feminazi” you arent welcome in the Democrat party.

Here's my own personal view of the makeup of the Leftwingtards who populate the Democrat party.

(1) No discussion, to say nothing of dissent, allowed, (2) Must agree to murder one child, and (3) Prefers homosexuality or bestiality over anything else.

Outside of that I can't think of a thing that particularly distinguishes them.

Both parties are a sham. Conservatives have received only lip service for the last 25 years from republicans. I think both parties maintain power by keeping the electorate at each others throats. Example: we in all likely hood agree 90 percent with 85 percent of voters. There are some key issues that divide but there seem to be more issues than I have seen in my lifetime that unite, fiscal responsibility for example. I am still a registered republican but not a very enthusiastic one any more.

The voters seem to have rejected the hand-picked Republican candidate (Scozzafava).
The voters are (hopefully) in the process of rejected the Democrat candidate.

A third party candidate is being put into office -- and this is solely a defeat for the GOP? The Democrats somehow are not being rejected here?

And the voters are happily choosing the candidate with Conservative values? Is that a slap in the face to only the Republicans? The Democrat values aren't being rejected?

When Conservatives stick to their principle, vote their values and ignore liberal republicans; they will learn they can win elections.
