Has Anyone Read the Copenhagen Agreement? U.N. plans for a new 'government' are scary.

We can only hope that world leaders will do nothing more than enjoy a pleasant bicycle ride around the charming streets of Copenhagen come December. For if they actually manage to wring out an agreement based on the current draft text of the Copenhagen climate-change treaty, the world is in for some nasty surprises. Draft text, you say? If you haven't heard about it, that's because none of our otherwise talkative political leaders have bothered to tell us what the drafters have already cobbled together for leaders to consider. And neither have the media.

Enter Lord Christopher Monckton. The former adviser to Margaret Thatcher gave an address at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota, earlier this month that made quite a splash. For the first time, the public heard about the 181 pages, dated Sept. 15, that comprise the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change—a rough draft of what could be signed come December.

So far there have been more than a million hits on the YouTube post of his address. It deserves millions more because Lord Monckton warns that the aim of the Copenhagen draft treaty is to set up a transnational "government" on a scale the world has never before seen.

The "scheme for the new institutional arrangement under the Convention" that starts on page 18 contains the provision for a "government." The aim is to give a new as yet unnamed U.N. body the power to directly intervene in the financial, economic, tax and environmental affairs of all the nations that sign the Copenhagen treaty.

The reason for the power grab is clear enough: Clause after complicated clause of the draft treaty requires developed countries to pay an "adaptation debt" to developing countries

This claim is backed up by the Spanish government saying that the climate change treaty needs to be ‘legally enforced’.

World government... a long time dream of the Left to cede national sovereignty to a transnational government. Its the ultimate nightmare.

Get the US and the G7 out! Collapse that corrupt aggresive failure!

These UN guys are largely third world muslims out to take on Western civilization... screw em. Why should we fund them so they can bite the hand that feeds them , move onto the chesterfield, take over the House and push the two-leggeds outside to the doghouse?

Let them stand on their own.... or collapse.

Sounds like the british empire all over again, except this time, the UN empire will be run by true tyrants and mass murderers since members of the UN hail from countries led by dictators, mass murderers, commies and socialists. I would rather be back under rule by the Brits, thank you very much.

Text beginning on page 18 as suggested:

38. The scheme for the new institutional arrangement under the Convention will be based on three basic pillars: government; facilitative mechanism; and financial mechanism, and the basic organization of which will include the following:

(a) The government will be ruled by the COP with the support of a new subsidiary body on adaptation, and of an Executive Board responsible for the management of the new funds and the related facilitative processes and bodies. The current Convention secretariat will operate as such, as appropriate.

(b) The Convention’s financial mechanism will include a multilateral climate change fund including five windows: (a) an Adaptation window, (b) a Compensation window, to address loss and damage from climate change impacts, including insurance, rehabilitation and compensatory components, (c) a Technology window; (d) a Mitigation window; and (e) a REDD window, to support a multi-phases process for positive forest incentives relating to REDD actions.

(c) The Convention’s facilitative mechanism will include: (a) work programmes for adaptation and mitigation; (b) a long-term REDD process; (c) a short-term technology action plan; (d) an expert group on adaptation established by the subsidiary body on adaptation, and expert groups on mitigation, technologies and on monitoring, reporting and verification; and (e) an international registry for the monitoring, reporting and verification of compliance of emission reduction commitments, and the transfer of technical and financial resources from developed countries to developing countries. The secretariat will provide technical and administrative support, including a new centre for information exchange.

Even if Obama signs this treasonous treaty it has to be approved by at least 2/3 of the Senate. Not likely.

Obama will find a way to make an end run around that too. Perhaps another Czar. The man is completely evil and it will take a Revolution to ever remove this tyrant. When in history has tyranny ever been removed at the ballot box or peacefully? CO

Any American president or senator who votes for a treaty to give away American sovereignty is a traitor, and should be dealt with as such.

They'll find a "non-treaty treaty" way to weasel deal it, like "fast tracking" NAFTA.

How disturbingly amazing. Surely B.O. will gleefully sign this horrific treaty, I expect no less from him.
