White House Prepares for Disappointing Election Day
ABC News Blogs ^ | November 2, 2009 | Jake Tapper

Posted on 11/02/2009 6:59:31 AM PST by Oldeconomybuyer

You can tell that the White House isn't expecting such a great election day -- Democrats are down in recent polls in the governor's races in both Virginia and New Jersey -- both by how much officials are insisting the outcomes have no relevance to the President and how much they're trying to change focus to the conservative in-fighting in the special election for an upstate New York congressional seat.

The White House is setting the stage for a bad day tomorrow, pre-spinning any losses as irrelevant.

On Friday White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said, “Whatever the results are, I don't think they portend a lot in dealing with the future.”

“The president has gone into these races, has raised money for candidates, Democratic campaign committees have raised money. So, to say that these contests are irrelevant is kind of whistling past the graveyard,” Stuart Rothenberg of the Rothenberg Political Report told ABC News.

The only “audience” that really, really matters are all of the members of Congress.

They will not fall for any spin, I don’t think.

The only ones who seem to be believing that is the Congressional Democrats.

Right. If voters go GOP in NJ and VA, then the Reps, who value their own re-election above all else, will not line up behind BHO for the firing squad.

Tomorrow is very important.

It's pretty arrogant to act as if the future is set and that you know what's coming, like you have so much control in controlling what's going to happen.

Conversely, the big action in New York’s 23 accelerated big time when a certain former gov. and VP-candidate put her suport behind the onservative cadidate. And she didn’t spend one thin dime of taxpayer money to do it - she did it on Facebook, not multiple stump visits for flailiang and failing Dem candidates. Take that, Lefties!

And she first took on her own party, repeating what she’s done in Alaska. Take that Rino’s!

They must be hoping for a win some where so they can claim the election results “were better then expected”.

It must be really bad if it’s beyond their ability to steal these elections. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we had confidence in our electoral process? I believe that wherever there’s a Dimorat, there’s fraud.

To those who claim that GWB lost both NJ and VA in 2001 and then had midterm success in 2002: the 2001 elections were within weeks of 9/11 and Bush did not set foot in either NJ or VA. Nor did he raise $$$ for either GOP candidate.

So the RATS can shove their spin where the sun don't shine. We'll see if the MSM even pretends to be fair. Rothenberg's quote is encouraging.

Jake Tapper at ABC has been steadfast in being a journalist and not an Obama handmaiden. Of all the networks, ABC has been the most responsible.

These journalists are learning that BO is an Empty Suit, and that if they want to salvage any shred of professional integrity, they had better wake up.

I think that significant fact is lost on most people even the likes of Hannity and BillO. Unlike Newt and Huck, she wasn't afraid to buck the RINO establishment and she was proven 110% right by Scuzzy's subsequent behavior.

Anything Sarah lacks in "experience" she makes up in integrity.

Dems will not loose NJ... Already the Dems there are cheating from what I have heard on Glenn Beck radio... The absentee ballots are larger than usually & the Dems have asked the Sec of State of NJ not to match signatures on the ballots... but just the addresses.

HEY BLUE DOGS!!! YOU ARE FOLLOWING PELOSI, REID AND FAUXBAMA OVER A CLIFF!!!! This is your warning, wake up or be gone.

RINO’s, SAME THING!

2010 Is going to be a SLAUGHTER. Dems will look fondly on 1994 as a great night for them after 2010 is done. The so called “moderate” republicans are going to be decimated as well in primaries.

Enough is enough, if you stand for socialism, or do not stand against it.. you will be gone unless you are from the bluest of blue districts.

Awww cmon Barack, have you no confidence in your election fraud machine coming through for you?

Under normal circumstances, he and Michelle would be fist bumping themselves into a coma. But they never figured they'd even need voter fraud on election day. They'd sewed up a Dem vote no matter who won. Owens or Scozzafava, who cares? Actually Scozza would have been better, as they could claim "bipartisanship." Hoffman was the wild card they hadn't planned on, and it all came crashing down too late and with too much national attention to mobilize sufficient backup ballots now.

NJ, on the other hand...They don't need to manufacture or mobilize anything on the QT there. Everything's in place for that crap. It'll be no more trouble to orchestrate the Corzine win than placing a pizza order. With on-time delivery a lot more reliable.
