Dede Scozzafava proves her detractors right!
The American Thinker ^ | November 01, 2009 | Aaron Gee

Posted on 11/02/2009 3:38:25 AM PST by Scanian

It is being reported today that Dede Scozzafava is endorsing Democrat Bill Owens. In one fell swoop she proved her detractors right. Her actions also speak to the Republicans that made excuses for her such as Newt Gingrich; they were dead wrong. When Dede withdrew from the race on Saturday, many (including me) thought she was doing the right thing for Northern New York, and the Republican Party. Instead we have been presented with the quintessential example of what the label RINO means.

"Scozzafava dropped out after Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman experienced a late-in-the-game surge. The move was expected to consolidate GOP voters behind Hoffman on Tuesday.

But on Sunday, Scozzafava backed Democrat Bill Owens -- the announcement was made in a statement sent out by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee."

When the DNC is releasing statements for the former GOP candidate you know something is very wrong. This is a wake up call for the leaders of the Grand Old Party. The party got its hat handed to it in the last election by running the most "moderate" candidate in decades why do they continue in the same vein that didn't work last time?

She’s a Democrat.

The people behind her are too arrogant, and too locked in their world-view, to realize that their support wasn’t what their media was telling them it was. A little push-back from the real world, and the bubble popped. Only problem for them is it popped too soon, and now anyone can see how we were conned.

Will NJ voters see it too?

The leadership. The leadership chooses what they like. They like Lefties, because they are Lefties.

Expose the RINO’s for the Leftist insurgents they are. Get the RINO’s the HELL out of the Republican Party, especially the leadership. Get rid of the “mavericks”.

Will NJ voters see it too?

How will NJ newspapers and TV stations report it?

Will they state the facts or will they spin it as " a bold move made by a maverick Republican"?

There are many great comments in the comment section after this article.

Here's a good example:

The RINO's instincts are almost always wrong. To the extent we listen to the Republican Party leadership, we will continue to lose. IT IS NOT COMPLICATED. Do what is best for the country and you don't need to listen to leadership.
Stan G is absolutely right.

It's not complicated.

Of course the media will lie and spin. But will YOU do what you can to get the TRUTH to your friends and relatives in NJ?

And if you don’t have any, plenty do. Like me. I’m working on it.

Y'think? LOL

OK, so what's a right-wing person to do when the *leaders* {spit} don't & won't wake up?

Only asking because, that's precisely where it's at right now.

I ran across the link to the paragraph below in the earlier thread.

After reading the paragraph, no one should be surprised that Scozzafava endorsed her Dem opposition.

Gingrich is the one who should have some serious explaining to do.

She doesn't sound all that different that the GOP's 2008 'standard bearer' John "I wanna be a Dem" McCain who

==

It is amazing how the Dems manage to get choice candidates on BOTH tickets.

Thanks, joe. You're correct. I'll be seriously considering a no vote as my vote. But old habits are hard to break, y'know?

Particularly difficult for those hardwired a certain way.

They keep doing the same thing, but expect a different result.

Look how many of the 'big honchos' in the GOP were initially for Scozzafava. And many of those same GOP honchos still advocate big-tent-ism and being more Dem-like.

This is a well-thought strategy from Obama. Appoint McHugh, open the seat and run two liberals who will support his agenda.

I read that as the sign quoting Hoffman as telling Dede to “stop lying.”

If so, the colon is mighty important.

Bad sign, regardless of who was using it. Misleading.

This may have sunk any presidential hopes for Gingrich. What a boondoggle!!

Seriously, couldn’t happen to a better man - one who claims he’s a magnificent convert to the Catholic faith, then gives his full support to a death merchant like this. What a disappointment. It appears now that a vote for Gingrich would be a vote for Pelosi, too.

Let’s ask the question: Is there a concerted strategy in the Democrat Party to run Democrats clandestinely as Republicans?

I’m talking about an actual conspiracy at the top of the Democrat Party, and/or among organizations that would back radical leftist causes, to train people to disguise themselves as moderate Republicans and run as such. Purpose, to weaken and destroy the Republican Party itself.

Well there is the issue of the open primaries. Leave the barn door open and who knows what crawls in. Certainly the Dems, Acorn and unions took advantage of that. From there it's no big thing to sabotage and or run moles.

Take a look at the NY GOP site and go to the tab that asks, "Thinking about running for office? They provide full service assistance with no mention of establishing any sort of bona fides.

I’ve talked to a number of family members and co-workers who think candidates should not be so “biased” in favor of certain positions. In short, they feel all candidates should be moderates. My opinion is if you don’t stand for something, you don’t stand for anything. I respect a Dennis Kucinich a lot more for saying out loud that he’s a liberal than fake populists or Republicans who turn into committed libs once elected.

I absolutely HATE it when someone claims that a vote for X is really a vote for Y.

Faulty assumptions; faulty logic.

They will soon learn that they can’t just field a candidate and expect non Democrats to just vote for the GOP candidate.

In NY 23 for instance, many many voters would not vote for Dede anyway. So if they did not vote for Hoffman they just would not vote.

We’re not going to help elect substandard or inferior candidates anymore. Just not gonna do it.
