NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc on Monday announced its second round of price cuts on toys as the world's biggest retailer backs up its intention to be the "price leader" this holiday shopping season.
U.S. Walmart stores are cutting prices on 100 toys, like the Buzz Lightyear talking action figure and Star Wars light sabers, by roughly 20 percent to 30 percent.
The cuts are in addition to ones the retailer implemented at the end of September, when it began selling 100 toys for $10 each

Ping!
Well, take this news with a grain of salt since our local Walmart proceeded to jack up its prices after Kay-B-Toys went out of business. So these new rollbacks will just set the prices back to where they were in June.
I doubt this comes out of Walmarts margin. They pass the savings on to their suppliers.
So they are still lower than they were from Kay-B-Toys? Where is the loss to the consumer?
Cheap plastic junk made in China that has nothing to do with what Christmas is, a distraction away from the Christian idea of salvation setting the little kiddies up for a celebration of greed, envy, and gluttony while the adults can safely occupy themselves with the same as well as added debaucheries of drunkenness, adultery and credit card debt! (Don't forget to mention parking lot road rage and general rudeness and the brawling over special flash sale items!)
Merry f-ing X-mas! Go ahead, ask me why I am pessimistic...
No, our local K-Bee had them beat.
I can probably guess, but if you'd like someone that you can vent to, go ahead and let it out, FRiend!
BTW, there are 2 Walmarts in close proximity to me. When I mention to my kids that I'm "going to Walmart" they ask,"Which one? White Walmart or Spanish Walmart".
The "Spanish Walmart" is near a large Hispanic population, and has been over run with teens and welfare moms, with screaming kids running wild everywhere. And English is a second or third language.
My apologies to anyone who thinks this post is racist, but I am telling the truth. If you went there you'd see for yourself how out of control it is. I only go there if I need something and it's much closer than the other one.
And I would never go there at night.
We used to get them at Kay-B-Toys for $5.96, while they were $6.96 at Walmart. After K-Bee closed its doors, Walmart then jacked the price up to $7.86 (as of this weekend). I also noticed that the prices of other toys like Transformers and Hot Wheels have also increased at Wally world.
Still isn’t going to get you those layaway sales you were so insightful to stop. Credit is frozen, or people aren’t using cards that charge $100 a year to use with 30% interest rates.
Kmart, in the locations left open, will probably do well this year.
Sounds like the Walmart in Frederick, Maryland. I stopped there Friday night on the way home from work (for trick-or-treat candy), and could have sworn that I was in Mexico City.
Oh yeah isn’t WalMart wonderful? Let me do a quick Eco 101 or what should be called putting other companies out of business the WalMart way.
WalMart will cut prices to look good during so-called economic tough times. In fact, we took a stroll through a local WalMart a couple of weeks ago doing price comparison. Overall, WalMart was not cheaper on most items maybe a nickel cheaper on some items. The stores are nasty, customer service is horrible, and the meat is shipped in already packaged and frozen.
Politically speaking, WalMart gave millions to the Obama campaign and has backed Obama on Socialized Medicine so they will NOT have to pay taxes. To be honest, WalMart is that corporation that everyone has warned us about all the while enjoying the poor people (foodstamps, medicade, and other govt, programs) that make them untouchable because they are nothing more than a Corporate Welfare company.
Oh and their products come from “CHINA”.
WAKE UP AMERICA!!!
I have several paragraphs more... but I'm sure you get the idea clearly...
I refuse to participate in the whole affair just like the Satanic holiday of Halloween. Some people are actually offended that I don't care for the goblins, ghoulies and celebration of the macabre.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Freddy Kruger/Jason slasher films have been done to death...
I actually saw newspaper articles by Wall Street wizards claiming Halloween purchases would save the economy. Devil worship will save the U.S. economy? Sounds like voodoo economics to me!
>”and the meat is shipped in already packaged and frozen.”
Well, yes and no.
YES, its shipped in pre packaged.
NO, its not shipped in frozen.
Fresh meat is shipped fresh. If its frozen at the store, thats the way its received. If its NOT frozen at the store, again, thats the way its received, with the exception of some sausage which is shipped frozen to maintain its freshness.
I would for a tire or something like that late at night, but then again, I'm a big ugly cowboy with a Colt Python...
Keep buying WalMart and supporting the spread of Socialized Globalization.
I agree but to be truthful, "Christ" has been out of Christmas for a very long time and cannot be blamed on a retail operation in the smallest way.
Back when Sam Walton was alive and running Wal-Mart he used to run commercials bragging about how Wal-Mart sold mostly American made goods. Times have definitely changed......
Got one of those “spanish WalMart’s” here too. The help all speak spanish and there is a policeman there all the time. No need for cops in the other two WM’s with the driving radius.
Americans want decent products at low prices. Until we change our minds on that, China will continue to make competing products, which will find their way to store shelves and we will continue to choose whether or not to buy them.
I simply don't participate in it.
And yes, I don't blame Wal-Mart, but I DO SEE THEM as a contributor to the cultural subversion within the welfare plantation, of which Sodom Hussein Obama is their lawn jockey.
Is your butt stamped?
... Merry f-ing X-mas! ..
I'm not sure that is a good testimony for a Christian? Actually, I'm pretty sure it isn't!
Do you live in Dalton?
Dirt/sow bugs/water/sea shells/rocks....
Those are REAL toys.
and I am a good chef because of it today. ; )
Isnt being butt ugley a true blessing?
I look (minus the wrinkles) like the God my Eyes are burning out female journalist that is posted here often for gag reflexes.
Oh I reflex smile allot though.
But yeah not a target, and I keep a power tool close too...just in case some dumb shit does not get the first clue. : )
Kay Bee Toys deserved to go out of business. They were way too high, their aisles were about a foot wide because of all the stuff stacked in them and the screaming kids and their pushy parents are too much. What a crappy shopping experience.
Neither are the aforementioned public behavior(s), which was my point...
actually your post was funny!
My daughter waits to shop at Walmart when she’s at my house because hers is “ghetto”.And she lives in an upscale neighborhood.
KayBee was the Island of Misfit Toys.
WM and others like it have a fiduciary responsibility to the shareholders to legally maximize the profits of the company. For them to do anything to cause them to earn less than was possible would be an abrogation of this responsibility and could lead to a shareholder lawsuit.
Some time ago WM along with other retailers began telling their employees to avoid saying Merry Christmas because they feared it would offend some and therefore cost them sales. When they realized the exact opposite was happening and saying Happy Holidays instead WAS costing them sales they went back to wishing the customers a Merry Christmas.
In the business world it is all about bottom line and long as it is done legally it is fine wit me. If the are people who are not happy with the laws as they are then the ought to work at getting them changed.
On a personal level the thought of a Currier and Ives Christmas Literally brings tears to my eyes and I would love to again experience Christmas (I am 67 years old) as I remember it as a child. I, to this day can get misty eyed listening to the traditional Carols song by vocalists of the 40's and 50's, but I am also a realist and understand that living in the past serves little purpose. It is fun to remember though.
Which one? Was it the one where you talked like a tough guy, or the one where you tried to talk like a tough guy?
Your post is a perfect look into your mind...
Near Lebanon, PA.
On any given trip to the Walmart half a mile from my house I'll usually hear 5 or 6 different language spoken.
I have an open mind, but my brain hasn't fallen out...
But if you want to trade insults, that's fine by me - - I'll drive you out of the temple like Yeshua did to the money changers in the Bible...
What are you smoking? That isn't an insult, FRiend, it is an ignorant rant. The temple is in our hearts and minds. You can't drive Jesus out of my heart, and using fancy names doesn't secure a position.
Take your meds, and go back to sleep!
Shop at Wal-Mart and witness how it does that to others, then get back to me...
Those are REAL toys.
and I am a good chef because of it today. ; )
Ewww! I'm not eatin' what yer cookin'! 8^)
Where does ANY retail chain get their beef ... don’t like it .. no one is holding a gun to yor head to buy it at wal mart.
American people are idiots ... two farms side by side, one raises, markets and supposedly guarantees registered organic, cetified Black angus, the other markets conventionally and efficiently grazes rotationally. I sell them both supplememental hay and grain from the same shed and bin. Neither innnoculate with gowth hormone, only for brucellosis. One commands 15% premium on the hoof, which equates to 25% premium retail
Some unsuspecting consumer that hasn’t figured it out yet that “meat” does not come encased in plastic wrap from a supplier, pays the premium price for “certified organic” and unknown to him there isn’t a penny’s worth of difference.
Growing up on a Grade A dairy farm we played the same “marketing” game. Our “registered” holsteins produced the same milk as Gilman’s heard of unregistered, but more than likely as pure a herd of holsteins without paying the price to track/record lineage. Both farms produced their own stock, both used MVB (Minnesota Valley Breeders) but supposedly we earned respect ro documenting a registered herd. Where was the difference?
An unknowing/uneducated public’s vision that purchases with emotion rather thna logic. It gets worse every year.
Oh yeah .. the vitamin comapanies say our lands are drained of minerals and market their suppplements to that issue ... ... emotional hog wash .. with out the 12 micro nutrients in very specific quantities, locked or unlocked by pH due to geographics, pH suitable plants will not grow and produce. But marketing has an ignorant populace eating out of their hand. Yeah ... eat certified beef and then fill yourself with those supplements in the form of pills to ensure health without a thought what comes in that capsule.
Americans have been duped for years by slick marketing ..
Don’t go to wal-mart and buy their beef .. go to another retailer. I’m sure you know the supplier, grower chain of that retail store. (sarcasm off)
I shop at a WalMart a couple of times a week. I shop in Moorefield, WV, and in two stores in Winchester, VA. I occasionally visit the store in Martinsburg, WV, and spend many American dollars there.
Everything you note can be boiled down to two things. You are acting every bit like a bigot and do everything to make it clear that you don't like WalMart.
Don't shop there. Don't even go there if it is so bad for you. There, it's really simple, but to denigrate people for shopping at a legal retailer borders on insane. Take your meds.
Blaming Walmart for staying competitive isn't going to bring business back to America.
Try placing the blame where it belongs. Our own oppressive federal government.

Good for you... I can afford to go elsewhere...
Add my Amen to that!
Praying at the temple of Wal-Mart is your idea of salvation?
