I called the number and they said they make calls for political campaigns and other stuff (products. etc.). I complained about the call and hang-up. They called my house too but asked for my mother who is a registered Democrat- They said it was an "independent poll" and asked who she was going to vote for but she wouldn`t tell them anything- she gave me the phone but they wouldn`t let me take the poll cuz i "wasn`t on their list"- I am registered Republican- more dirty tricks and phoney polls from Obama people?

Try This. I installed one a few years ago and within weeks all the telemarketing and robocalls stopped dead in their tracks. I haven't had one get through in about 3 years now.

It works by telling the dialing computer that it's reached a fax machine or another modem. When the dialing computer gets the tone, it executes an instruction to remove that phone number from its system or internal database since no human answers the phone.

The best part: it doesn't interfere with caller id or your answering machine.

I couldn't recommend the Telezapper any higher.

As soon as the Do Not Call list went live DoNotCall.gov I put my cellphones on the list and haven't gotten unsolicited telemarketing calls at all. It may take a bit for the system to propagate your cellphone number through now, but add it and eventually the calls will stop.

When they tried to sell something when I had a landline before I would say, “Uh, no thanks, our family is moving to Uzbekastan next week.” there was a long pause, then they hung up.

One time I got a call from someone asking for “Dasheeka”.

When called by pollsters, the very best thing you can do is take the call, figure out what answers they're looking for and then answer them appropriately.

All the while taking detailed notes on the questions and the order they're being asked. Which you then turn over to the local GOP/Conservative candidate.

I know of a good number of GOP seats that have been saved over the last 20 years or so because the Dems called the wrong house when they were running polls on potential lines of attack. That information getting back to the GOP candidates gave their campaigns a leg up in getting a response together before the attacks started to hit.
