PPP poll : Hoffman up big in two-man race
Hot Air ^ | November 01, 2009 | ALLAHPUNDIT

Good news, but with lots of caveats.

Here are some interesting facts from our unweighted numbers so far:

-In a three way contest Doug Hoffman leads Bill Owens by 19 points. In a two way contest Hoffman leads Owens by 15 points. So the Dede Scozzafava withdrawal and endorsement will probably tighten the race some but not nearly enough.

-58% of Republicans think that Scozzafava’s a liberal and that was obviously before her endorsement today.

What strange (and desperate) times these are, that I would have such emotion tied up in a congressional race on the other side of my continent.

Good news, but this race isn’t over, though it increasingly looks like Hoffman will win it. Any endorsement is welcomed, in any event.

I’m thinking DeDe Scuzziefarting did Hoffman an unintentional solid by endorsing Owen(s?). Drew a line right around the ID. Made it clear as clarion call.

Yeah, me too. This situation is probably not unique. It explains a lot. It is easy to believe the GOP is either owned by people with the same ‘progressive’ goals as the DNC, or that the GOP has been outplayed for the last 12 years or so. I’m glad Dede has been stopped and that she has outed herself. But how many more have been pushed into the Congress and Senate by similar mechanism?

This is why I only contribute to individual candidates and not the GOP.

There is a deeper fear in the RAT and GOP parties and that is the thread of a new party emerging. Think of other countries that have multiple parties where coalitions and concession have to be made....its scares the sh*t out of both the RATS and GOP, so they, together, work diligently to keep them out. THAT is the overriding factor and the biggest thread to why they do what they do. IMO

That’s why I consider myself an independent conservative and no longer a republican.

Incidentally, Hot Air has a link to Newt’s website where he is getting annihilated: http://newt.org/tabid/193/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/4629/I-Am-Endorsing-Doug-Hoffman.aspx.
Enjoy!

Republican voters are obviously much smarter and more astute than the history professor Newt Gingrich.

I can’t say for sure, and your opinion is at least as good as mine, but the way it looks to me is that the “incumbancy machine” has evolved into a cynical and thoroughly corrupt political class that operates only to stay in office. They feed us the BS they think we want, and would sell their mothers to the arabs if it kept them in the gravy. I have no quarrel with other parties entering the fray, but who’s to say they wouldn’t become as rancid as the D and R parties. Ultimately I think that the voting public must become educated about the perils of statism, and understand the founding principle that government is a vicious and dangerous beast that must be kept in a (Constitutional) cage, and vote accordingly. Looking to politicians and bureaucrats for our salvation is a folly. It would be a better country if we hunted them like animals, and mounted their heads over our mantles.

I have nothing against Doug Hoffman personally or politically, but, objectively speaking, his luck has been extraordinary to go from an obscure third party candidate to a national celebrity and a likely seat in Congress almost overnight. Since this happens to be the only congressional race set for this election day in the entire country, an inordinate amount of national attention and money is focused on it. Factor that in with the general conservative momentum against Obama and the foolishness of the NY GOP establishment to nominate a candidate like Scozzafava and you can see that Hoffman is riding a perfect wave all the way to Washington. Best wishes to him.

Hooray for the people of NY District 23! Now make sure the ACORN poll watchers don’t steal the election like they do in so many places.

The ‘rats are all elitists, and the GOP “leadership” has become infested with them since 2000. Unfortunately, it’s a communicable disease, and it is spread by being in DC for too long.

Elitists simply think they “know better”, and seek the power to impose that “know better” on the rest of us.

It’s the first real world indicator in terms of an election as to the depth of the Tea-Party movement.

Funny thing is, the district is not a good indicator, it’s pretty solidly conservative.

The real indicator is New Jersy. If that governorship goes GOP then Dimocrats are going to start getting real edgy. Thats why Nancy and Bambi wanted Health are and Cap and Tax passed long ago. Because once the incumbant Dims see the way the tide is turning, its going to get a lot harder to get and keep the Blue Dog Dims in line.

I am praying they hold their ground. What Congress is doing is blatantly unconstitutional.
