Massachusetts keep it up and your population of taxpayers will be less than 50% of what it is presently.

Ask California for a loan if you need one.

Yep, according to the article she forced the conversation on him, then accused him of harassment when he stated his views. And his company sided with her.

As one of the posters at the link asked, would the store have taken that action if he was a Muslim?

Brookstone’s excuse: homosexual marriage is legal in Massachusetts so it’s not harassment.

Blowjobs are legal in Massachusetts, too. Does that mean an employee can talk about getting blowjobs all day at work and it’s not harassment?

If she kept talking about pork chops to a practicing Jew I’d think that the Jew would have the harrassment case against her.

Would the store fire a homosexual who was speaking against heterosexual marriage? Heterosexual marriage is legal in MA.

This guy should sue and when his story gets out, people should boycott Brookstone’s.

That's what he should have done - the first time she re-opened the subject, he should have told her that her sex life is her personal business and he considered it harassment for her to force any details of it on him. Then file HIS complaint first.

I normally don't agree with litigation but he needs to sue the store. Freedom of religion means that people have the right to believe, and live according to those beliefs, however they wish.

This man should be able to get his job back and speak openly and freely about his beliefs, just as the lesbian store manager should be able to put a picture of her wife on her desk. That's what freedom means - tolerating even the beliefs we don't understand and find repugnant.

Christians aren't fired if they tell a Buddhist employee they don't agree with their beliefs (and visa versa). The same should be held here. Freedom of religion is fundamental and comes from God.

I say sue. Take them to court.

She was looking for an opportunity to do him harm in revenge for his lack of moral approval. The FIRST time someone starts telling you about their sex life, tell them you don't want to know, preferably in front of a witness. The SECOND time, file a harassment complaint with HR.

I've worked with gay people and by God, that's all they talk about. When they came around to asking me what I thought, I would say, "I don't see how any of this is my business."

Be sure to add a statement about it being inappropriate for the workplace, and make a private note of the circumstances (date, any witnesses, what the previous topic of conversation was). The next time they start up, file the complaint and do NOT warn them or they’ll file one first.

I wrote them and told them they can expect a boycott:

My wife and I are long time purchasers of your products, including your massaging foot bath, a computer mouse as well as other items.

Now I am organizing a boycott of your company because of your shameful treatment of employee Peter Vadala.

In this economy and with Christmas approaching, we will see how your strong-armed tactics against decent Americans holds up in the market place. Peter was fired because he said he disagreed with homosexuality.

If this article is inaccurate in any substantive way, I am willing to listen: http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=114779

As of now, I look forward to reading of your filing for Chapter 11 as a warning to other companies who wish to bully employees in this manner.

Thanks for your reply. I too read the article on worldnetdaily. I hope this story goes all the way around the web, Brookstones deserves a boot in the a$$.

As I read the story and saw the hostile and unfair treatment from both of the women, it made me wonder if this place wasn’t a nest of lesbians. By that I mean, that it is possible that a lesbian got a management position there and then started hiring other lesbians. It is possible that he was already working there before the lesbians arrived and they did not want him there. I don’t know if this is true, it is just the impression that I get.

Do you think that he could have a strong sexual harassment case against the store? The lesbian manager brought up a sexual topic that made him uncomfortable and after she saw that he was uncomfortable, she continued to hound him three more times. She was definitely badgering him. After harassing him with a sexual topic that made him feel uncomfortable, she has him fired.

If this were a woman who’s male boss brought up a sexual topic that made her uncomfortable and continued to bring up the subject three more times, and then fires her when she complains, it would be considered sexual harassment. This lesbian manager was forcing her lesbianism on this male employee who was uncomfortable with the subject. She continued to harass him and then had him fired. I think this was sexual harassment and I hope that he sues the manager and Brookstones.

The S&M “community” is part of the glbt “communities”. Glbt means gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender. The list just keeps growing and growing.

I live here in the “gay” state Massachusetts. When the subject of same sex marriage was being discussed on the radio, it would make me furious to here some callers say things like: “It doesn’t effect my marriage” and “Let them get married what harm can it do.” I would love to kick everyone of those people in the can for being so common sense deprived.

No, she shouldn’t.

“That’s what freedom means - tolerating even the beliefs we don’t understand and find repugnant.”

Same-sex attraction disorder is not a belief. It is a tragically harmful, and transmissible, mental disorder. It should no more be tolerated than alcoholism or pedophilia.

My problem with that is if you let the government make that decision and not individual people, they could also decide (as so many on here fear) to say that being a Christian is unacceptable. I believe that whoever owns a business and pays for the cost gets to decide what goes on in his or her "house". The same reason I think as a Christian can buy a house and ask guests to either not curse or leave.

In this case, the private business was a company called Brookstone. They have a belief (which most of us do not agree with), but it is their private property and so they have the right to do whatever they want on it without the government interfering. If we have a problem with their specific beliefs, we can either 1.) boycott, 2.) open a competing store and put them out of business, or 3.) ignore them entirely.

That is exactly what freedom is. Someone has the constitutional right to be a racist and the government can't do anything about it. But the people in the town around the person can - they can shun them at the grocery store, refuse to cut their hair in their privately owned salon, or not associate with them in the local coffee shop. The same goes for this store manager.

If you trust government with that kind of power, you have far more faith in it than I do. It's the same reason I believe that the owner of Free Republic has the right to moderate comments (it's HIS property), just like YouTube has the right to remove videos it doesn't like (they paid for the servers). As long as no one is being harmed, the United States government has absolutely no right to go on to someone's property and tell them what to do, no matter how nutty they are.

He was “baited” by this manager to say what he ended up saying. She continued “flaunting” her relationship with the sole purpose of finally getting him to say what he said, KNOWING full well that she NOW could go to HR and based upon the LAW file a complaint and have him fired. This is a MISUSE of POWER. She EXPLOITED him, and TOOK ADVANTAGE of him for HER OWN SELFISH GAIN. Not much different than the boss using his power to get a blow job. Use of power to gain selfish agenda. Same thing. He should definitely sue, He was TARGETED because somebody probably TIPPED off the manager that these were his beliefs and SHE WILL NOT HAVE ANY OF THAT !
