David Plouffe slammed Sarah Palin on Sunday for her role in the Republican Party and the NY-23 race, saying the GOP was hanging up a sign, “No moderates need apply,” that will marginalize the party for years to come. Plouffe, Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign manager, said of Palin on NBC's “Meet the Press,” “I think we should thank John McCain for picking her.”
“What’s going on in the special election in N.Y. 23, I think, is a remarkable phenomenon that could affect our politics for years to come," Plouffe said.
He added that Palin, who endorsed the conservative candidate over the Republican, a move that inspired numerous other Republicans to jump the party’s ship, is “kind of playing the role of pied piper in Republican politics, which I’m quite comfortable with – basically hanging a ‘moderates need not apply’ sign.”
Plouffe said that conservatives had forced out a moderate Republican in the name of ideological purity, and deemed it “a very curious strategy to kind of repair this damage,” adding that the GOP had lost support among moderates, young voters, African Americans and Hispanics.
“I think more they’re becoming a very motivated core, but a small core, about 23 percent of the country,” he said.

The thing is, these people and their media pals think that they can spin the theme after Hoffman wins. But it won’t work because the media is too diverse — and because people will only notice who won. Their problem is that the country is 40% conservative, 20% liberal, not the other way around. They still haven’t figured that out.

I think George Will said it best on Stephie’s show. After reciting DeDe’s positions on the issues he said there is already a party for someone with those positions, the Democrat Party.
The Rev Al also made a very telling statement. In a moment of weakness he said that the American people desired and should expect a government that will protect them. George quickly responded that was the real divide in American politics. The divide between those that wanted the government to protect them and those that wanted protection from the government. I guess in the near future we will see which side is bigger.

David Plouffe took several hard shots at Fox News on Sunday, saying it became “a 24-hour propaganda McCain channel really in the last 60 days.
“The audience itself is quite moderate,” said Plouffe, who stressed that “the danger is that what Fox advocates becomes embraced by [other] media” and that “we have to put a spotlight on some of the irresponsibility coming out of that network,” is then treated as straight news.
When that happens, he said, “we have to engage.”
They continue the endless campaign! I thought Obama told us 'he won'.
