Despite what some conservatives say, we now have a president of whom we can be proud.
Doing something that his predecessor never did in eight years in office, President Barack ObamaBarack Obama made an after-midnight visit to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware Friday night to welcome home the fallen dead from the war in Afghanistan.
He was somber and dignified, and he showed America that he understands the other side of the decision he is making whether to send more American troops into harm's way in Afghanistan.
Not only did his predecessor never visit Dover for one of these ceremonies, he also banned media coverage of the returning coffins. We don't need to speculate why.
Doing her best to be America's most disagreeable woman, former vice presidential daughter Liz Cheney argued that Obama had made the trip for publicity and that his predecessor had simply avoided the media.

ALL but one family forbade cameras. But he got one to consent, so he got his photo op.

Oh please! He is right Bush never packed up 24 reporters and took them off to Dover for a photo op. Nope he met privately with families so as not to use their dead for photo ops. I am not proud of our affirmative action poser I’m downrigth embarrassed by him often!
The bodies of our brave soldiers are piling up at a higher rate than when Bush was in office. Is Obama’s continued dithering and lack of resolve in the war on terrorism cause for PRIDE? His trip to Dover reminds me of his meeting with families of 9/11 victims the DAY AFTER he announced the closing of Gitmo. This can only be explained as sickness.
Gee and it only took him 10 months to hook his azz over there. It was a photo op pure and simple.

Dignity = Keeping media hounds away from remains of other peoples’ loved ones, and letting them mourn in peace.
President Bush did not need to show anyone that he loved the troops and cared about them deeply because any sane human who is not a left wing lunatic knows this fact. The troops loved him and respected him and still do and he loved them and still do unlike the coward we have now in the White House.
President Bush stopped playing golf since 9/11/2001 unlike this left wing coward appeaser we have in the White House who keeps playing golf and throwing parties in the White House instead of fighting the war on terror and making decision on what to do on Afghanistan.
Bush cut back or totally avoided many activities as a show of support for our troops.

My son-in-law, a Marine, just got back from Iraq and his Battalion was scheduled for a trip to Afghanistan.
They were just told they are going on a Float instead so he is safe for about a year.
Maybe we can get some decent people in Congress by then to keep Obummer from killing too many more of our sons and daughters.
We better get 0 to the hospital so they can let the poor little guy out!

The troops loved W, visits to Dover or not. This will not help obama with the troops. Most of them do not like him. So, which would you rather have? Which is the more honorable man? Which is the more respectable man? Which man was in the military and understood the military?
Give Obama a break. I felt as proud of the socialist when I saw the Dover picture as I felt the day he swatted a fly on live TV. I was grateful that the anti-American occupant of our White House finally found a use for our soldiers, even if it just as a backdrop for a picture of his favorite person (himself).
Here is a complement - Obama is the best, most convincing friggin’ LIAR I have ever seen, bar none!!
I can personally attest to President Bush’s frequent meetings with the families of military members who died in action. One of my previous jobs was with a defense contractor at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. In 2004-2005, Mr. Bush made frequent trips to Ohio, during and after his re-election campaign. On those visits, Air Force One usually landed at Wright-Pat.
After leaving the presidential jet, President Bush inevitably walked into the “main” hangar on the flightline, spending up to an hour inside before heading to his motorcade or Marine One. At first, some of us were curious about why Mr. Bush was spending so much time in the hangar. When I asked a member of the Security Forces Squadron what the president was doing, he told me that President Bush was meeting with the families of troops who had been killed in Afghanistan or Iraq.
I also know that the family of Army Private Keith Maupin met with Mr. Bush at least two times at the base. Private Maupin disappeared in Iraq after terrorists attacked his convoy in 2004; his remains were finally recovered last year.
President Bush’s countless, private meetings with military families speaks volumes about his character. Compare that with one midnight “salute” at Dover. Which approach do you think surviving relatives prefer?
It was bad enough that the press wanted to transform the return ceremony into a media event. Using the event as a presidential photo op is disgusting.
Mine are home now for almost a year from two tours in Iraq. The next rotation to Afghanistan is scheduled for them for February.
I’m dreading it. I not only don’t have confidence in this president, I believe he is an America-hater along with his friends, his Czars, and most of his Congress.

What foul dripe. This was a photo op for Obama, nothing more. He even secured permission from one of the 18 grieving families for his photo op.
Bush met families in person numerous times with no press present. No, it wasn’t talked about much. First I heard of it was from a friend who serves whose buddy was killed in combat (Iraq). He mentioned that Bush met with his buddy’s family. No press, though. That’s dignity.
Ask a friend who is a service member what they think of this if you know any (which would surprise me). I have. Don’t mention your idolization of Obama, though. You’ll at the least lose a friend, and might just get a well deserved smack in the chops.
He has ZERO concern for our troops = HE is responsible for this summer and fall having, in progressive months, the highest number of our troops killed since the beginning of the war with his new ROE and dithering -
But I forget! As Gibbs said, he's spent ‘almost 20 hours’ (in nine months) thinking about Afghanistan. (He's spent 6-7 times that playing golf, and even more playing basketball, and more tripping around the country campaigning for dem candidates...and 100 times more speechifying for his bogus health care...
