WASHINGTON (CNN) Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who came under fire from some conservatives for endorsing Dede Scozzafava in next week's special Congressional election in New York, is now backing Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman.

Welcome home Newt, Have a beer and tell us all it is to be out alone with strangers in the cold.
Newt’s a day late and a dollar short.
He made some stupidly embarrassing comments about this race, and comes off as a hypocritical fool looking for relevance.
Newt should go away now.
Newts a day late and a dollar short.
***That’s what I was gonna say. Better not cash that check for $1.
Excellent. :)
The ship is starting to turn.
Gawd, this is more embarressing than getting behind the whole global warming thang.
Thank you Newt, Glad to see it!
When the going gets tough...Newt quits
Day late and dollar short.
Ronald Reagan was a democrat before he changed his mind.
Speaker Gingrich has done the right thing.
Give him credit, where credit is due.
Everyone needs to be on the same side, if we’re gonna get America back.
Welcome home, Speaker Gingrich! :)
Whatever.
Let’s not forget the person who showed real “LEADERSHIP” and started the steam-roller..... SARAH!
we’ll see if he continues to behave like a conservative.
Let’s hope he takes this as a lesson learned.
Heh.
Sarah’s making all the right moves. B4SP2012
Exactly. The worm is starting to turn in the Republican Party and we don’t do ourselves any favors by alienating those that finally wake up.
Nothing to gain by saying, “I told you so.”
R O T F L M A O
It’s times like this that I find being a good Christian impossible. The higher thing to do would be to forgive and move on but ole Newt shot his mouth off and sounded like Code Pinko with a few of his bites. Sorry, Newt. You lost a fan forever.
NEWTUS AGUSTUS has spoken. let the word spread through out the empire.
1: Wet finger.
2: Poke in air.
3: Follow prevailing wind current.
4: Take credit for favorable outcome.
[SARC] Nice save, Newt. [/SARC]

Newt once changed America.
If he wants back in, let’s welcome him.
He earned it. Ten-fold!
A leader is out in front like Sarah Palin. A leader does not straggle behind and run to catch his army.
Exactly. The worm is starting to turn in the Republican Party and we dont do ourselves any favors by alienating those that finally wake up. Nothing to gain by saying, I told you so.
I recall the days when Newt was a leader; back then he craved principle more than attention.
LOL!
Newt the DIABLO. Maybe he can get a job at Wal Mart now or Huffington Post. Go away Newt.
Actually, Dede DIDN’T drop out. She “suspended her campaign.” And she told her followers that she was “releasing” them to vote for whoever they liked.
So, technically, she is still in the race. She didn’t even have the grace to drop out, let alone endorse Hoffman.
Add me to the pile on.
Newt, yer a day late and a dollar short, Hoss.
(Dang, looks like I’m a day late and a dollar short. Oh well.)
He did not do the right thing. He buckled under when there were no more choices.
Give him credit, where credit is due.
He certainly is flexible without a spine, isn't he? Is that enough credit, or shall I heap more?
Everyone needs to be on the same side, if were gonna get America back.
That is the precise rational Newt used to criticize those who supported the conservative candidate. I was wrong then and it is wrong now.
I don't want to be on the same side. I want to be on the right side.
Newt openly criticized those who supported the conservative candidate just a few days ago. He was dead wrong when he said that supporting Scozzafava was the way to go, and he was dead wrong when he said that conservatives were wrong for supporting Hoffman.
The right thing was obvious then, but he was highly critical of those who dared do the right thing.
Only when backed into a corner with no possible other choice did he reluctantly even begin to do the correct thing. Unless he sincerely apologizes publicly to those he criticized publicly, he still will not have done the right thing. The clock is ticking....
Leaders lead. They don't cower and follow after the danger has passed. Newt Gingrich has proved himself no leader.
Give him credit, where credit is due.
But did he do it for the right reason? His last minute switch seems more opportunistic than principled.
If he ever denounces man-made global warming (preferably before the global warming crowd finally realizes that man hasn't much to do with the weather), he might start to look more like the leader he was.
It will be easy to tell if he learned his lesson or is just riding the tide.
Newt must realize AND act accordingly to the following:
He is no longer a kingmaker. If Hoffman wins, Palin is the new kingmaker.
If he gets on her coattails and supports the conservative candidate regardless of party, and has ONE voice with the conservatives from now on, then welcome home. If not, he gets hung out to dry, with the rest of the politically motivated rinos with the bullseyes on their backs for 2010.
Either fall in with the rest of us, or go awol. We welcome ALL conservatives, we BANISH ALL RINOS!
You must be at the wrong site. This is Free Republic.
Newts Site is newtgingrich.com
What are u, some staffer for Newt.
Newt trying to save face.
Sorry Newt, we don’t need any big tent socialists around these parts (America)
Amen, but you know he won't. - He'll stick around, trying to drag the party left as he always has.
And Fred Thompson (he endorsed Hoffman in late September)
LOL!
You are so over Newt.
THIS JUST IN:
ACCORDING TO POLITICO MIKE HUCKABEE HAS ENDORSED HOFFMAN
better late then never.
Looks like Mitt is waiting until Hoffman is ahead by double digits.
I'll give him credit for being a global socialist, because that's what he is.
"Everyone needs to be on the same side, if were gonna get America back."
And that is why we have to bar the door on Newt. He's incurable.
If Newt’s on board with the right team, I’ll join with Newt. And I’ve been (plenty) critical of Gingrich.
There are two, and only two, ways to win elections:
Think about this. Really, it’s important.
The first way, which the GOP has been trying for the last 15 years - is for the GOP to abandon what it stands for, to try to appease the left. That is why we have RINOS.
The second way to win elections, it to convince others to change, and come over to your way of thinking.
This second way only works, if you do not chase people away, once they change and come around.
We’re trying to win people over.
Not chase them away!... So yeah, if Newt wants to wake up and get with the program - go Newt!!
I’ll be with him 100%. :)
The rino ship is starting to burn:)
Newt’s best days are well behind him.
He needs to get off the stage.
His smug rejection of conservative principles, as he tried to defend his endorsement of Scozzafava, was enough for me. Goodbye, Newt and please take that big-hair, bottle blonde wife of yours with you.
