(Oct. 31) -- Police in Cleveland say at least three bodies have been found at the home of a convicted rapist, and they expect to confirm three more.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that Anthony Sowell, 50, and a convicted rapist, has been arrested. Police are asking people with missing relatives to bring in items that might offer DNA samples, to help authorities identify the victims.
Police spokesman Lt. Thomas Stacho said Saturday that the bodies were found at the home of 50-year-old Anthony Sowell of Cleveland. He says officers have found three bodies and believe they have discovered three more but are awaiting confirmation from the coroner.
On Thursday, police came to Sowell's home to arrest him on charges of felonious assault and rape. Sowell was gone, but police found two decomposing bodies inside.

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Cleveland Police have arrested 50-year-old Anthony Sowell, a convicted sex offender who went missing after police discovered several bodies in his home Thursday evening while trying to serve a search warrant.
Authorities held a press conference Saturday at 11:45 a.m. asking the public to call and report missing persons. As of Saturday, police had found five bodies inside of Sowell’s home and one in the backyard.

I left the West Side of Cleveland 32 years ago-been back to visit over the years, including now-been back this week-first time in three years. It has gone so far downhil-but never has been this bad.
Bars on the windows, security signs, “Beware of Dog signs” everywhere, along with “For Sale” signs, cops posted on the sidewalk when my old high school lets out every day, security guards now stationed in my old branch library, ghetto rats in baggy pants aimlessly walking around puffing on blunts, a downtown that is filled with trash and empty storefronts.
And today,the old barber shop, where my dad went since the 1930s to get his hair cut by the dad and uncle of the current owner-now in his mid 70s, where I had my first haircut in 1960—I went to say hi to good old Ernie ( I had a haircut last week back home, so I didn’t need one). Ernie was cutting a guy’s hair, and one guy was waiting in one of the armchairs-I could see it through the window. I go to open the door-it’s locked . Ernie now keeps it locked all the time and unlocks it for customers when they come , re-locking it behind them after they come in.
How Vibrant!
Just think if the government had kept this scumbag in prison for the rape these people would be alive still.

People use the term “Amish” as a way of saying the press generally doesn’t identify the race of killers UNLESS they’re white. So whenever there’s a horrible crime - and the race is not identified we say “Amish” - ultimate sarcasm ... for non-white - Muslim, black, illegals etc...

In my opinion it's MORE racist to be afraid to mention a person's race because they're black. It's creepy - caused by a cloying abundance of white guilt. I was active in the civil rights movement in the early 60’s - and the tortured way liberals deal with race is ... embarrassing - and stupid. My suggestion is that newspapers include in their style books how to deal with the race of victims and criminals - and keep it consistent. The same should be done with "where in a story about corruption the political affiliation of the "perp" goes". My experience - and those of other freepers - is that if it's a dem, the reference is buried in the story - and if it's a Republican it's in the head. Just keep it consistent.

The reply was simply to correct Uri’el’s characterization of the use of “Amish” in posts like this one. I fully acknowledge the media’s reluctance to mention the race of perpetrators.

Few people realize that after Elliot Ness cleaned up the Capone mob in Chicago, he was hired as Cleveland's Public Safety Director, and during his tenure there was a rash of brutal serial killings that went unsolved. Many speculate this played a big role in Ness's decline in health in early death.

No, it's because the Amish are as close as we've got to "pure as the driven snow". They are the least liking group to have violent gang members, terrorists, rapists, or serial killers. It's like putting a sarcasm tag on a post... because it's NEVER the Amish.

I'm all for racially profilling anyone and everyone. Racial profiling is a proven crime prevention/detection tool that we need to use. If your suspect is a black male then stopping white old ladies is ridiculous. (and vice versa)
