Sexed-up Halloween has gone to the dogs and lawyers

The horrifying evolution of Halloween continues. Recently it became Slutoween, but we're long past that.
Now it's Skanky Doggyween.

You may have seen the stories about sexy pet costumes, the miniature schnauzer in the tiny plaid skirt, the rat terrier in the lascivious Bo Peep outfit, the French Maid Chihuahua with the fishnet stockings, and so on.
Now that America has sexified its dogs, is it any wonder that al-Qaida wants us dead?

"Halloween was born of the noble Celts, who dropped their pagan ways and dressed like demons and ghosts to scare the real ghosts and demons on the eve of All Saints Day. Those were the days when the Irish and their wise monks saved Western civilization, back when mentioning saints wasn't illegal" --John Kass, Chicago Tribune.

I remember back in my college days I would drive past student residences on my way home from work, and there would be a train of sluts, several blocks long, on their way to on party or another. Almost surreal.
I don’t know what it is with women. Do they always want to be sluts, and rejoice in he one day where it’s supposedly acceptable? Or do they think when they wear a costume, they’re another person?

Don’t blame all this on women. Men love this and give them the attention that leads to this, you know.

Thta also reminds me, from my college days, of the infamous First Day of School. The rest of the year, save summer school, women show up in sweat-shirts and pajama pants. But on that first day, it’s cleavage as far as the eye can see. Stand in any one place between class, and you may enjoy the cleavage train. I’m telling you, all it is is cleavage, cleavage, cleavage, cleavage. Small, big, and otherwise. But just for that one day.

Ha! I never thought of that. This article isn't about Obama, but when Obama was inaugurated, Kass was there, and wrote this REALLY syrupy article about him. I cannot locate it on the Net; but John has already poked fun of himself in regard to that piece and he's since gotten back on the "right" track. He's got a great sense of humor and not afraid to tackle the politics of Chicago.

Well, yeah, but what do you expect from men? It’s women’s job to protect their own image.
Besides, they’ll give them attention either way.

"When it comes to adults, it can sometimes be difficult to know when a costume is really a costume. It would be rude to tell a woman "Nice Pirate Costume" or "Great Hooker look" when they're merely wearing the latest style, like those long, past-thigh-high leather boots selling for $3,000 at select stores. You risk a slap in the mouth."
"You mean the Pooker Boots?" said a woman on Michigan Avenue who wouldn't be caught dead in them. "They're pirate boots/hooker boots. Pooker Boots."

“Careful with those broad brush strokes, Tuble.”
I don’t understand your warning. This is a real phenomenon, noticed by everyone who has working eyes and has gone outside on Halloween.
Or are you saying I should be careful not to imply all women are sluts on Halloween? I don’t see why anyone should draw that conclusion. Obviously, they don’t all dress up that way. Heck, most of them don’t dress up at all.
If, for instance, a woman were to bring up the fact that males are in general more violent than women, and that they commit more crimes, and proceeded to ask, “What’s up with men?” would anyone assume they thought all men are violent criminals? Heck no. We’d know she meant men in general, or on average. Likewise, it should be obvious I mean the majority of women who dress up Halloween are sluts, and I wonder why. And trust me, it IS a majority.

Halloween is many things in America but what I keep seeing about the celebrations is how the American sense of humor, both dark and light, is let off it’s leash. Few things are as funny as dogs in costumes, so it’s a natural evolution. If I had a daughter instead of a son, I would secretly be happy that she thought slutty was so over the top that it was worthy of parody one day a year instead of actually being one.

It’s supposed to be 70+ degrees tomorrow in NYC. The slutty costume thing is going to be completely out of control this year.

My GF bought a traditional black, long dress witches outfit for a halloween party she’s going to. I told her it looked like a bhurka with a pointy hat.
She is not pleased with me at the moment.

Fundamentally, yes. But not often so, how shall I say, elevated.

Dont blame all this on women. Men love this and give them the attention that leads to this, you know. If a woman is dressed as a nun, men would still want to have sex. And to think a woman doesn't like the attention is intellectual dishonesty. Women want to be noticed. Period.

Indeed; here are the types of high school girls that help me believe we can turn this nation around.

You had no way of knowing this, of course, but the young lady in the middle reminds me very much of my first “real” girlfriend. Reminded me of some good times, long ago.
Thanks.

In #3 you wrote:

To me it came across as all women and all the time.
I'm a woman. I dress modestly, regardless of the day of the year. I'm not a slut. I don't even undress for the ob/gyn if I can help it.
Sorry that I happened to draw the conclusion that you don't see why anyone should. It just hit me wrong I guess.
Happy Halloween...

You're very welcome. It's a photo I look at when I feel discouraged ... it immediately brings me some joy ...
