Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.), already under fire from the Democratic partys base for vocally opposing the public option in health care legislation, now tells ABC News that he plans to support Republican congressional candidates next year:
"I probably will support some Republican candidates for Congress or Senate in the election in 2010. I'm going to call them as I see them," Lieberman said in an ABC News "Subway Series" interview aboard the U.S. Capitol Subway System.
"There's a hard core of partisan, passionate, hardcore Republicans," Lieberman said. "There's a hard core of partisan Democrats on the other side. And in between is the larger group, which is people who really want to see the right thing done, or want something good done for this country and them -- and that means, sometimes, the better choice is somebody who's not a Democrat."
Lieberman also said he may abandon the Democratic party line in his 2012 re-election bid, opting to run as an independent instead

Hey Joe, about becoming one of "the larger group, which is people who really want to see the right thing done, or want something good done for this country and them" rather than just another poll driven pol.

"Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.), already under fire from the Democratic partys base "
Is that the same "base" who threw him under the bus at the last election, causing him to change to Independent?

Uh, Joe. Weren’t you elected to your present term as an Independent? After your party abandoned you, and backed Lamont?

Good for Joe! He’s a decent man who has gradually discovered the Marxist bent of the Dem. party.

Why do I have a feeling,he is one of Becks refounders..........This doesn’t mean I agree with Joe but you have to admit he is changing ( as his party leaves him ) and he holds his principles as an American.

If Lieberman does switch to the GOP (which I doubt), then posters here will bash him as a dirty RINO who must be purged from the party. Lieberman is more liberal than Snowe and Specter.

Joe Lieberman can do the people of Connecticut a great service by supporting a decent Republican over the corrupt Chris Dodd and by telling the people he is voting against Dodd because Dodd is an untruthful individual of low integrity who allows his own interests to override his duty to the people of the state of Connecticut and to the nation.

We must remember that he quickly caved in to Harry Reid soon after the 2008 election...

True, the only thing he's really conservative on is national security issues. He's an economic moderate, and a social liberal. He's wrong wrong wrong on abortion, but otherwise, a fundamentally decent guy. I kind of like him as an independent.

I hope Lieberman supports Republicans just long enough to defeat the Health Care Bill.

Lieberman is a traditional Democrat. Yes he is liberal in many views. However, I believe he genuinely loves this country. He is an indictment on how far to the left the rest of the Democrat party has gone. The “new” leftist Democrats hate this country and what it stands for. They want nothing more than to tear it down.

I would love to see him support Dodd’s opponent in Connecticut. You may recalo that Dodd threw him under the bus after he lost the Dem. Primary to a left wing whacko.
To: kingattax
Joe also said that he would vote to remove Clinton if he lied under oath in the Monica Blewinski scandal. Clinton did. Joe didn’t.
To: kingattax
Joe is right at least twice a day, just like a broken watch. But his is a good issue for him to be right. To the lefties he is the devil because of this, so we have to get his back, at least on this issue.
