A judge in Illinois sentenced an admitted Al Qaeda agent Thursday to less than two years in prison in addition to the six years he already has spent behind bars much less than the 15 years requested by prosecutors.
But U.S. District Judge Michael Mihm said he doesn't think former Bradley graduate student Ali al-Marri has renounced the terrorist group and was likely to attack the U.S. if given the chance. But Mihm also said al-Marri deserved credit for the years he'd spent in isolation in the Navy brig.
Prosecutors claimed al-Marri told an Air Force psychiatrist all infidels, including Shiite Muslims, should be killed.
The Qatar native has admitted training in Al Qaeda camps and having contact with those involved in the Sept. 11 attacks.

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find only things evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelogus
In a sense, I agree with the judge. They could shorten the sentence by hanging him.
I think by this logic the judge deserves credit for the next attack on the US perpetrated by this upstanding person and should be charged with the crime.
Al Marri was to hack into the US banking system, and "to wipe out balances and otherwise wreak havoc with banking records in order to damage the U.S. economy."
Investigator had found information about hydrogen cyanide on Al Marri's laptop... "The highly technical information found on al-Marri's laptop computer far exceeds the interests of a merely curious individual."
On April 30, 2009 he entered a plea of guilty to one count of conspiracy to provide material support or resources to a foreign terrorist organization.
Al-Marri admitted in his plea that he attended terrorist training camps between 1998 and 2001, where he studied weapons and operational security. He met with Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and "offered his services" to aid al-Qaeda; Mohammed told him to travel to America by September 20, 2001 and wait for further instructions. Al-Marri said that while enrolled at Bradley University, he researched cyanide on the Internet and continued communicating with al-Qaeda. WHY WAS THIS PUKE IN OUR COUNTRY?
Sounds a lot like my own version of "early release" programs for the few, the ignominious, the depraved.
Send him over to my hunting camp. Me and my buddies will make sure he has a MUCH shorter sentence.
Then we’re stupid and we’ll die. The good news is he’ll be out in time for the 2012 election.
Michael Martin Mihm (born 1943 in Amboy, Illinois) is an incumbent United States federal judge on the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois, with chambers in Peoria, Illinois. He became a judge in 1982 by way of nomination by President Ronald Reagan.[1] In 2004, he received the USAID Outstanding Citizen Achievement Citation for his work with the Russian judicial system.[2]
I mean what is the difference between these two groups of predators and why havent we taken this step?
Yep, this is the kind of stuff that happens when you take a military action and convert it to a criminal court system...
Oh yeah ? Well, that's going to cost you, big time. For the next six years we're going to feed you, provide shelter, clothing and .. oh yes ... we're going to provide you with free health services ... including dental and vision. You'll get free cable television, Internet, and spa privileges ... and conjugal opportunities. So there! Take that!
With citizens like Mihm, who needs enemies?
Keep in mind that oscumbo is getting ready to make a major increase in the number of federal judges.....With Holder, ACORN, Wright, Putin, and the EU ready to fill, or recommend the filling, of these openings...life will get really interesting....
Hmmm...I see our first 6-term president in the offing....
