A Democratic fundraising video on President Obama's political Web site shows an American flag mural being covered in graffiti and desecrated with slogans about health care reform.

As a heart monitor beeps ominously in the background, a graffiti artist paints over the Stars and Stripes with phrases criticizing opposition to the Democratic legislation, including "profit over life" and the crossed-out words "death panel." The whole flag is eventually smeared with paint and blacked out.

One of 20 finalists in the Democratic National Committee's "Health Reform Video Challenge," the video shows the Los Angeles-based graffiti artist "Saber" at work, according to a copy of the video posted to YouTube.

The DNC is using the splattered Old Glory to pick up some change, asking for donations to air the winner of its contest. "[T]o put the winning ad on national television, we'll need folks to chip in and help cover the cost of getting the ad on the air," the DNC says on its my.BarackObama.com Web site, which hosts its Organizing for America campaign program.

"I think that most Americans no matter what their political persuasion is will find this pretty obscene and pretty shocking," said Armstrong Williams, a conservative radio host. Williams said it was a bad message to send for the DNC to give "energy and credibility" to an artist desecrating the flag.

The moderate Democrats (read as non-Communist Dems) aren’t going to like this anymore than us I don’t suppose (although they may hide behind platitudes like Freedom of Expression to avoid conflict)! And the Independent “swing” voters are NOT going to like this at all. Of course, the only ones seeing it at this point are the folks on the DNC mailing list. The U.S. Marine Corps' PR department issued this press release with photos showing Reconnaissance and Sniper Platoons training in Kuwait. Specifically, they're practicing "special purpose insertion/extraction" where a group of Marines is lashed to a rope, then quickly dropped from a helicopter flying 250 feet above the ground. If you look closely at some of the pictures, however, you can see that several of them are taking a little time out from their busy training schedule to see the sights and snap some holiday photos with their DIGITAL CAMERAS (click on the photo to see it full-size).

Yeah, and Barbara Boxer talking about how the world was seeing a "peaceful transfer of power" right before the (first) oath by Obama was taken wasn't without meaning either. As Axelrod has written for two candidates in their speeches; "Just Words?" - nope! It sent a chill down my spine at least. It was like a prediction that the NEXT time wouldn't be peaceful. And, the way things are currently we will NOT get the government BACK under the thumb of the Constitution peacefully, unfortunately. IMHO, the liberals will push, and push to find out just how much we will accept, then they will push even harder for an excuse to "put down the rebellion" -- a rebellion for FREEDOM, but with the way people are so wrapped up in Obama's Cult of Personality they won't see it that way... mmm, being Reconnaissance and Sniper Marines , the digital photos of the immediate insertion area provide them with critical info not always available in other forms. Being able to review after insertion might show op force locations and other mobile elements.

Your posted photo doesn't enlarge the image. If you posted the source link it might be interesting to view the "rabbit ears" the cameraman is carrying in his pack. Satellite uplink could quickly transfer photo intel to the command post. Beats the heck out of slow sketching in a fast moving situation.

I saw that video on tv last night, hubby turned to me and said something like “why does that not surprise me”..I forget which show it was on, but the gist of the commentary was what if repubs did that, and used kids in that manner. Disgusting! That pic of obama not holding his hand over his heart, while all stood in respect of the flag told us all the truth. He has no respect for it, and neither do his thugs.

Every single pic on this thread needs to be saved forever. There was a pic on another thread where a little boy (whose griefsticken face made my heart just ache) was at the funeral of his dad (not sure if he was a marine?) Regardless..a serviceman was handing him the flag that had been draped on his dad’s coffin. That should be displayed along with all of the ones above.
