Iran proposes big changes to draft atom deal
Reuters ^ | 10/29/2009 | Reza Derakhshi

Iran wanted shipments of low-enriched uranium (LEU) -- for conversion abroad into fuel for a Tehran research reactor -- to take place in stages, not as one block.

It also wanted simultaneous imports of higher-enriched fuel from other countries for the same plant.

The conditions were likely non-starters for Western powers, which suspect the Islamic Republic covertly seeks nuclear arms capability.

Iran 'seeks change to nuclear deal' [Aljazeera]

""We welcome fuel exchange, nuclear co-operation, building of power plants and reactors and we are ready to co-operate," he said in a live broadcast on state television.

Ahmadinejad added that Iran would not retreat "one iota" on its nuclear rights, and that the provision of nuclear fuel to a Tehran reactor would test the "honesty" of global powers.

Dear Mr. Adolfinejad,

For some time now we have lamented the fact that you annoy us with your
unnecessary shenanigans. Non-proliferation and security for Israel are the
cornerstones of our position, but the United Nations Organissation just
kicks the can down the alley.

Yet another year has come and gone without the Iranian surrender the world so
overwhelmingly deserves. In light of this we consider it
unnecessary to continue talking while we prepare more drastic measures.

Sincerely, not Arnold Schwarzenegger

The word in certain circles is that Iran has hit a refining problem due to impurities in their feedstock. Said impurities are tearing up their centrifuges. They need advanced technology to get over this hump, remove the impurities. That’s why the Iranians are now so eager to talk. Step in 0bama to get them back on track.

Ah, that's useful data. Find out the rate at which he's willing to ship LEU out of Iran, and we'll know the minimum processing rate of his enrichment program.

These articles are so tiresome:

... The conditions were likely non-starters for Western powers, which suspect the Islamic Republic covertly seeks nuclear arms capability ...

The world wide media is such a joke. It no longer makes any difference what people or governments do or are doing. There is some major news outlet that will not report the facts.

80 years of moral relativism and here is the result. The world wide institutions designed to enlighten and advise us are unable to tell right from wrong and we all will suffer for it.

Found this comment in Dar Al Hayat tonight. I had posted a story (A Plot to Assassinate the State) from here earlier.

10/29/2009 - 17:54Jihad el-Khazen

To say it once again, I hope that Iran is lying, that it is actively seeking to build a nuclear bomb, and that it will succeed in building a nuclear arsenal that is as powerful as Israel’s. Once again as well, I call on the Arab countries to seek to acquire nuclear weapons with which they can confront Israel, rather than exclusively confronting their own peoples.-- http://www.daralhayat.com/morenews/english

A brave Iranian student has openly criticized the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during a formal annual meeting held between the leader and various intellectuals and academic figures on Wednesday.

In this meeting which is usually a place for students from across Iran to praise the leader and to show him their devotion, a mathematics student from Sharif University of Technology and a winner of the International Mathematics Olympiad courageously rose from amongst those present and requested to speak to the leader.

The student then directly addressed the leader criticizing him and the Islamic Republic for twenty minutes. His comments were followed by occasional applause and cheers from those present. Iranian state-run TV which was broadcasting live images of the meeting was forced to stop airing the programme for some time.
