San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom on Wednesday vetoed the Board of Supervisors' legislation changing the city's sanctuary city policy.
The letter is a formality on two counts: the supervisors have the votes to override Newsom's veto, and the mayor has said he'll ignore the legislation anyway.
At issue is legislation, written by Supervisor David Campos, requiring that undocumented youth be reported to federal immigration officials for possible deportation after they're convicted of a felony, not when they're first arrested, as is the current policy.
Newsom, has said the legislation must be ignored because it violates federal law.

Oh, I see — NOW Gavin cares about the law - as opposed to his flaunting of it by authorizing gay marriage.
Between his illegal alien policies (returning cars to unlicensed illegals and not reporting those who commit crimes to ICE) and his bankrupt city and character, what in the world does Gavin thinks makes him attractive to ANY California voter outside borders of San Francisco.
He’s one of the few dems I’ll actually vote for the republican just to not have him as governor or god forbid president!?
That never stopped him before. But now he's running for Governor (heaven help us), and he has to appear law-abiding.
The front-runners for the next Governor are Gavin “Any Twosome” Newsom and Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown. We make look back on the Schwarzenegger years as the good old days.
