A Texas emergency room doctor has a message for the rest of the country: illegal aliens are destroying the medical care delivery system in his part of south Texas.
Dr. Antonio Falcon cited diseases and conditions such as tuberculosis diabetes obesity and swine flu, brought by illegals, as major threats to America’s border hospitals because illegals refuse to pay for medical care.
Dr. Falcon says the problem started with the 1986 Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), the federal law compelling hospitals to treat anyone in medical emergencies without regard to the patient’s ability to pay.
Falcon started his practice in 1980 and has seen the terrible results of EMTALA. In the early 1980’s Mexicans were usually among the best paying patients in border hospitals because the system required up front payments. Today the same population offers only smiles and empty palms in return for their care. Now the influx of those willing to sneak into America to steal medical services is taking its toll.
Dangerous diseases
If illegals aren’t specifically excluded from any health care legislation Dr. Falcon foresees the effect on border hospitals being the same as forcing them to continue operating with 35% funding cuts.
The problems involved in protecting Americans from the onslaught of illegals goes well beyond merely providing emergency room care and obstetrics. One of the consistently under reported stories about illegals is the shocking array of exotic and deadly diseases they bring with them.
Among the worst is Chagas Disease a South and Central American parasitic illness that causes heart failure in million of people. Unknown here ten years ago, Chagas is now found in 23 states.
Incredibly Illegals have reintroduced Leprosy in America and there are now 7000 lepers in our country.

This is the major problem with healthcare. The fix would be to rescind
Bill Clinton’s free healthcare for illegals law. But noone has
the guts to mention it for fear of being called racists.
I watch all the fat mexican mamas in my Atlanta suburb as they
use WIk to buy groceries. At the doctors offices, they pay nothing,
no small co-pay and are furious if anyone asks them to. We are building
a taxpayer funded medical clinic for Latinos in my town and
Grady, which is in the red, is being protested for saying they can’t
afford to give 60 illegals dialysis that costs a million a year per patient.
obama refuses to look at this and tort reform as ways to cut health costs. If I’m correct, he voted down every health care bill proposed in the Senate when he was there. And he wants us to believe it’s health care that he’s interested in.
....and McCain and Pansy Graham will still pander to them.
I know of a hospital that spent well over a million dollars on an illegal - he was in for months, most of it in the ICU. The hospital finally paid thousands of $ for a medical flight to get him to Mexico, after weeks of negotiations and arrangements.
The tuberculosis case rate in US border areas is 50 percent higher than anywhere else. Another benefit of open borders: the return of diseases that we had eradicated. Once the Democrats have imposed socialized medicine on our country, the stampede across our borders of the sick and the injured will only increase. We are going to bankrupt ourselves and destroy the best medical care system in the world thanks to the Dems.
Now that it’s become the elephant in the room, and not just a farm scenario, real Americans are having enough of this criminal trespass B.S.
This has to be aired more before the average person understands the horrible consequences of Obamacare. Maybe Lou Dobbs is the person to do this???

This health care legislation will allow for illegals to access all health care including non emergent care because there is no robust identification system. As clinics and hospitals become choked with illegals the problems will move north. Choked ERs may result in a shift of private clinics to provide more complex urgent care for their own patients that cannot obtain adequate access to their local hospital ER. Boutique medicine may also become more popular as patients will seek ways to obtain urgent and emergency care facilitated by their primary physician. The primary care “boutique” physician can meet the patient at the hospital or upgraded urgent care center, render treatment and admit the hospital bypassing the ER room process.
I also see the opportunity for an immense amount of fraud with this health care legislation. Illegal alien syndicates cold easily recruit illegals to come into the US, pose as pain patients and request narcotic prescriptions. Money can be made with a corrupt or phony doctor billing government insurance. More money can be made by reselling narcotics to the community.

Where do you get this "fact"? That is not the case in this part of Texas. Most every Mexican, illegal or not, of almost every age, are VERY robust. It is very rare to find a thin one.
Oh, I can't refute it. It's absolutely right. This is something I study for a living--health care costs--and what the illegals are doing to those hospitals is itself an atrocity. The hospitals are strangled by the law that requires them to treat anyone who comes to the ED, and all the illegals use the ED as a place to watch TV every time they get a bump or a scrape. You can't imagine the stupid reasons they use to go to the ED, things that would never, ever bring you or your kids in. And American medical care being what it is and providers in the US being as cautious and thorough as it is, their visit to treat an owie finger can cost thousands.

I don't think the doctor was referring to diabetes and obesity as a communicable disease, but as a contributing factor in the problem. Here's the statement from the article:

I get it from reading the medical records of people who are using medical facilities in Texas, southern California, Arizona, etc. The new arrivals are skinny. Those who have been here for awhile start putting on weight.
To extrapolate this report, President Obama and the congressional leadership kill more Americans than Al Queda and the Taleban by allowing the condition of illegal immigration to persist. coupled with black on black murders unrestrained in the cities, the death total approaches the total lost in Vietnam.
It is pretty obvious that america’s deadliest enemies are liberal Marxists controlling the government.
Diabetes is unquestionably a disease. But illegals are not bringing it to the US. It’s here. Millions upon millions of Americans already have it, and illegals are not giving it to them, any more than illegals are giving obesity to Americans. Blame illegals for damage to our schools, for our skyrocketing crime rates, for increases in taxes, for many other stresses to our society, but don’t blame them for bringing diabetes and obesity to this country. We already had those.

A few years ago, in Oregon, a convicted illegal alien murderer got a tax payer funded organ transplant in prison.
This why national health care will never be solved. The problem originated in the 1986 law. It is the perfect example of “unintended consequences.”
And big gov. is choking US taxpayers to death...something has got to give eventually!

He's saying that THEIR diabetes and obesity is taxing OUR health care system. He's NOT saying they're SPREADING THE DISEASE TO US!. Sheesh. RTFA.
And it doesn't end there. My son works for an ambulance company that routinely repatriates Mexicans. It isn't unusual for his company to arrive at the border with the agreed-upon fee for services; only to be shaken down for more money before the Mexican ambulance driver accepts the transfer.
In those cases, his drivers simply turn around and return the Mexican to his point of origin in Phoenix.

I know a Medical Resident at a hospital in El Paso. She said she learned how to deliver babies because she delivered over a hundred of them in one year, all in the emergency room, by Mexican women who crossed the border to give birth. The ER was just one of her rotations during the year, in one hospital.

Mexican immigrants who illegally worked in the United States would have a stronger claim to U.S. Social Security benefits under a totalization agreement with Mexico than what U.S. citizens enjoy. This disturbing finding is from a new legal analysis performed for The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) of the pending U.S.- Mexico Totalization Agreement.
The pending totalization agreement has been signed by both the Mexican and U.S. Social Security Administrations, but has not yet been sent to Congress for approval. It provides Mexican beneficiaries with a contractual promise made between the government of the United States and the government of Mexico, the legal analysis says.
Despite a 2004 law that prohibits the payment of Social Security benefits to illegal immigrants, a non-citizen may receive benefits, including benefits based on illegal work, if he or she meets one of the exceptions to the law. One of those exceptions applies to individuals who are residents of a country with which the United States has a totalization agreement. Under the agreement it appears that all illegal Mexican workers would have to do is to return to Mexico and file a claim for benefits.
