Obama Visits Returning War Dead
JEFF ZELENY October 29, 2009
President Obama left the White House late Wednesday to take an overnight trip to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, where the bodies of 18 American troops killed in Afghanistan on Monday were returning to the United States.
The White House did not announce the trip in advance and kept details of the visit closely held. The president, wearing a dark suit and long overcoat, left the White House at 11:44 p.m. Also along for the trip was a small contingent of reporters and photographers who had been summoned to Fort Belvoir, where Mr. Obama departed for a 45-minute flight to Delaware on Marine One.
It was the presidents first trip to Dover Air Force Base, which is where nearly all of the nations war dead return home. The trip was a symbolic one for Mr. Obama, who is moving closer to announcing a revised military strategy for Afghanistan.
The trip comes two days after Mr. Obama met with soldiers and Marines at a Naval Air Station in Florida, as well as with family members of military personnel killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
October has been the deadliest month for U.S. troops in Afghanistan since the war began eight years ago. This week alone, more than two dozen soldiers died in attacks and helicopter crashes.

That says it all.
Nice. A photo op.
Bet Hillary wishes he’d fly into Afghanistan.....and take some flak...
Yep. You got it.
God bless our troops in every way.
0bama is no friend to our troops and they know it. They hate the bastard more by the day.
He is beyond disgraceful for using them for his narcissistic, personal purposes.
“Never let a crisis go to waste”
Pisses me off to no end!!!!! thats all I can say.
There's a lot more truth in that phrase than the reporter intended.
If one of those boys was mine, I’d be incensed to have the fraud show his face to the cameras. I do not think I could take it.
anyone know what classe he took in school..like maybe acting?

“Sure, we want to go home. We want this war over with. The quickest way to get it over with is to go get the bastards who started it. The quicker they are whipped, the quicker we can go home. The shortest way home is through Berlin and Tokyo. And when we get to Berlin”, he yelled, “I am personally going to shoot that paper hanging son-of-a-bitch Hitler. Just like I’d shoot a snake!”
Gen. George Patton
Somebody need to send Obama the movie “Patton”
The coffins have been returning weekly since he became CINC.
And he choses tonight ,complete with a camera crew to make his grand entrance ??!!!
This piece of vermin should have gone quietly and without telling anyone.. ever..if he just wanted to pay his respects .
To turn this solemn occasion into a cheap photo op is typical of this narcissistic pig .
The list, ping

(1) As other Freepers have noticed, yes, a photo op. Nothing more.
(2) He visited dead troops because they can’t talk back or speak their mind (not that live ones can too freely without facing court martial, but apparently that’s too much for Mr. “I’m tough” to risk).
The hardest task that he has on any given day is signing the condolence letter to a loved one whos lost a son or a daughter or a husband, a wife, in Iraq or Afghanistan, or serving our country overseas, Mr. Gibbs said.
Notice he just ‘signs’ the letters, he doesn’t write them, as Mr Bush did.
No honor for our dead...
just another photo op for The Obamanation.
Where are all of the old hippie war protestors? Remember them? The ones that didn’t STFU for eight YEARS while President Bush was in office?
Has anyone seen ANY media coverage of war protests? Even the Wiscosnin Commies are completely silent...and the death toll to our troops is the WORST EVER!
Why not protest NOW when the numbers are climbing?
Oh, wait... *SPIT*
Found ONE news covereage of a protest of about 100 students, two weeks ago. Was I the only one who saw protesting 24/7 prior to January, 2009?

I’d bet the farm that some staffer does the actual signing with a rubber stamp...
