DETROIT – Federal authorities say a leader of what they describe as a nationwide radical Sunni Islam group has been fatally shot during an FBI raid in the Detroit area.
The U.S. attorney's office in Detroit says Imam Luqman Ameen Abdullah refused to surrender during an FBI raid Wednesday and was killed in an exchange of gunfire.

Looks like these guys were regular boy scouts. They seem to have been engaged in a number of criminal enterprises but, being devout muslims, they stayed away from drugs, gambling and prostitution. The complaints specify theft from interstate shipments, mail fraud to obtain the proceeds of arson, illegal possession and sale of firearms, and tampering with motor vehicle identification numbers.
Their titular leader is none other than H. Rapp Brown, currently residing at the charm school in Florence, Colorado as penance for killing two Georgia peace officers.
Two of the thugs remain at large and in the course of today’s raids a law enforcement canine was killed.
Their professed goal seems to have been the creation of a state ruled by black muslims.
I find myself wondering if some of the recent arrests, including today’s, were fast tracked to try and move other news off the front page, and in the process losing opportunities for further intelligence gathering and allowing some perps to escape detection.
