The lovely-looking restaurant and bar The Breslin begins lunch service tomorrow, and co-owner Ken Friedman (The Spotted Pig) is planning on serving alcohol despite objections from the Masjid Ar-Rahman mosque across the street. Earlier this month the mosques leaders called a meeting with Friedman at The Ace Hotel, where The Breslin is located, and asked, "Can you move the bar?" Friedman's response makes us want to hurry over to The Breslin right now for a dram of Laphroaig to show our support (and drown out the voices):
I laughed. And the guy said, "Oh, you think thats funny?" And I said, "Yeah, that is funny, that is really funny, because were not going to move the bar just because you discovered were serving booze." Can you name one restaurant in New York that doesnt serve booze? I said, "This is the United States of America and well do whatever the **** we want." He said the mosque had suggested it couldnt control the behavior of "a few bad eggs"; i.e., we could get a brick through our window.
Friedman notified police of the threat, but just to show he's not a hard-hearted man, that it's not all dollars and cents, he agreed to put a curtain over the windows so devout Muslims wouldn't be corrupted by the sight of infidel inebriation. But the curtain hasn't arrived yet, so over the weekend he actually taped paper over the windows to hide a gay wedding. A volunteer at the mosque says city law forbids serving liquor within 200 feet of a place of worship and that "not more than 200 feet is between the mosque and the bar."

What do they usually do?
Welcome to Sharia Law in the USA...
If it’s between homos and muzzies, I’ll just grab the popcorn.
Wow, where is this place? If it’s not too difficult to get to, I just might go there.
Maybe a NY FReeper hangout in the future?
Well then, they'll just have to move the mosque.
should be advertised in all the promos on airlines as the place to see when in town. I’d go.
I can think of a few things. But we must not be intimidated by them or their threats--otherwise they will change this nation, just like the UK has experienced.
BTW, I could name quite a few churches in Texas that would object, too. But the law is the law!
Should get those alcoholic gays all angry now. Shoot, they might end up throwing bricks at the muzzie place.
Goat Boys...Goat Boys...Wattcha gonna do....
(apologies to “Cops”)
Which was there first?

WRONGO!!!!!
NOT ONE INCH SHOULD BE GIVEN TO THESE PEOPLE. Do that and it will ONLY encourage them.
Their ULTIMATE goal is imposition of Sharia Law and perscution of non-Muslims.
THey should move the Mosque - back wherever the hell they crawled out of.
They are free to leave for a Muslim country. Everyone who can should have a beer and ham sandwich at this bar.
Move the mosque.
Good for the Breslin. I’m continually amazed at the people who flock to this nation because of the opportunities here, that immediately try to change it to be just like the hell hole they just slithered in from.
I would appreciate it if these idiots would go back to the hell they escaped from if they must continually whine here.
Hah!!
“They are free to leave for a Muslim country.”
I feel exactly the same way. They should go elsewhere and take several more Muslims with them.
According to the article, “The law is clear that in order for that to apply it has to be an exclusively dedicated house of worship, and at their space (the mosque) they have both residences and a restaurant, so basically, because of those uses the law allowed there to be a bar within 200 feet. Everyone was aware of that when the liquor license was granted.”
Well, if they’re complaining about solid Conservative values, I’d certainly side with you on that one.
More nonsense from Islamics. I am glad this business owner is standing up to them
I predict that the muslims get their way. Everyone seems to be afraid of them, and my guess is that the officials will succumb to pressure. The bar won’t be able to fight the way the muslims will.
Whomever was there first.
The guy in the original article sounds like he’s got the ‘tude to take them on. I reserve judgment on the outcome.
Yes, I feel the same, but that is not their intention! They are here to convert us and enforce their archaic and fanatical ways upon us all! They will never go back to their shitholes unless we send them their by force, which is what needs to happen!!!!!
Sorry, added NM instead of NY by mistake.
What gets me is we’re still calling a mosque a “place of worship”. Cant this law be rewritten to more clearly define what that is and more importantly, to rule out cults of death? Im all for religios freedom, tolerance etc. but islam is a political scheme disguised in a murderous, intolerant and conniving scharade. Its main goal isnt saving souls or eternal salvation, its political expansion of its fascist laws.
I wonder what else they do there?? Classes in anti-Christian/anti-US hatred?? Terrorism?? Bomb-making??
“This is the United States of America and well do whatever the **** we want.”
chode, I thought you would love this one.....
Give the camel drivers an inch and they try to take a mile.
I have had occasion to hoist a pint or two at said Grendel’s den referenced below...
U.S. Supreme Court
LARKIN v. GRENDEL’S DEN, INC., 459 U.S. 116 (1982)
459 U.S. 116
LARKIN ET AL. v. GRENDEL’S DEN, INC.
APPEAL FROM THE UNITED STATES COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE FIRST CIRCUIT
No. 81-878.
Argued October 4, 1982
Decided December 13, 1982
A Massachusetts statute ( 16C) vests in the governing bodies of schools and churches the power to prevent issuance of liquor licenses for premises within a 500-foot radius of the church or school by objecting to the license applications. Appellee restaurant operator’s application for a liquor license was denied when a church located 10 feet from the restaurant objected to the application. Appellee then sued the licensing authorities in Federal District Court, claiming that 16C, on its face and as applied, violated, inter alia, the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. The District Court held that 16C is facially unconstitutional under the Establishment Clause, and the Court of Appeals affirmed.
These islamist jihadist terrorists are full of crap.
A volunteer at the mosque says city law forbids serving liquor within 200 feet of a place of worship and that “not more than 200 feet is between the mosque and the bar.”
So what is the problem! MOVE THE MOSQUE!
“city law forbids serving liquor within 200 feet of a place of worship and that”
We have this rule in West Virginia, HOWEVER......IF the bar was there first, before the church, then the bar can remain. This was challenged in court when a Baptist Church in the town of Jefferson moved right beside (and I do mean about 5 feet!) to a strip bar named “Shockers”) and tried to close it down. The courts ruled that since the bar had been there first the bar could remain. However if the bar ever shut down, or lost its liquor lic. it could no longer open up as a bar.
Now also in West Virginia... there is one bar that can open beside a church, mosque, or any holy site and NO ONE CAN SAY A DAMN WORD, and that is the American Legion. There was a case in Barboursville, West Virginia where an American Legion sold his old building (it was less than 200 feet from a church) because they got a new one. They had no idea that the man they sold it to held a liquor lic. for Lady Godiva’s. Guess what that is? No one could stop them. That Baptist church is angry...but once again....if they loose their liquor lic. they are out....just a matter of time.
No. The mosque has got to go. I would suggest moving it to Mecca.
Yeah, Capone said pretty much the same thing in pretty much the same way. And for pretty much the same reason. The response needs to be "Well, then, you wouldn't complain if I shot those bad eggs, would you?"
In my experience, the glass should be replaced with plexiglass. Bricks tend to bounce right off, sometimes resulting in the brick thrower receiving a contusion at the least or if he is really athletic, a concussion. Check youtube for several very funny clips of this.
Just going by the law. Like it or not it should be adhered to.
Sounds like the bar ownwer and the Muzzies deserve each other. Think I’ll remain neutral......
Like this one?
This almost makes me support gay weddings... too bad he covered the windows.
Agreed!
4 words and 14 letters later the MUZZIE SCUM would have known exactly what I think of them and their EVIL CULT!
I would say F’em, but that might give the mooselimbs great pleasure.
In my experience, the glass should be replaced with plexiglass
The first brick should be traded for a beer bottle filled with bacon fat and hurled back through their window.
this is why islam should be banned in civilized countries
Sounds like marriage. she marries you because of what she finds in you then spends the rest of her life trying to change you! (smile)
The law says that the Bar has every right to be right where it is. Therefore the Mosque needs to move. Or get used to America.
