France to launch national pride campaign in battle against Islamic fundamentalism
dailymail.co.uk ^ | Oct. 27, 2009 | Peter Allen

France is to adopt a series of measures to 'reaffirm pride' in the country and combat Islamic fundamentalism.

They include everybody receiving lessons in the nation's Christian history and children singing the national anthem.

Using words which infuriated ethnic minority groups and Socialist opponents, immigration minister Eric Besson also said he wanted 'foreigners to speak better French'.

He called for all recent arrivals to be monitored by 'Republican godfathers', charged with helping immigrants to integrate better.

His proposed measures contrast sharply with the situation in Britain where 'citizenship education' centres on multicultural diversity.

M Besson, who was born in the former French protectorate of Morocco, suggested a debate on national identity' entitled 'What does it mean to be French?'

He also reignited the debate about face and body-covering Muslim veils, saying they should definitely be banned.

As well as providing civic lessons for adults - including classes about the country's Christian history and liberal political institutions - the government will encourage school children to sing the national anthem at least once a year.

His proposed measures contrast sharply with the situation in Britain where 'citizenship education' centres on multicultural diversity and the European Union, while 'God Save The Queen' is not even taught in schools.

Who amongst us ever thought it would be France to lead the way?

Viva la Franca... Or something close to it.

I would love for the French to do an old fashioned “exile” where they tell every Muslim in France to get out! Just get out! France needs to respect it’s heritage and traditions and to hell with the “internationalists” or “globalists” who are pushing the multicultural rot.

If France doesn’t do this, then they have 30-50 years left as a non-Islamic nation.

Be still my heart. I think France has a lot to proud of right here. Fantastic!

Good luck frenchies im afraid you’ve already turned over large chunks of your sovereignty to “youths”. And you’d better offer something besides secularism to believe in or you’re going to lose to the mohammedans.

The good ol’ “mission civilisatrice” would appear to be back in vogue, although this time on the French homeland.

I’d like Europe to think about a grand bargain whereby Jews residing within Israel or in Muslim majority or Muslim heavy countries would relocate to Europe, either dispersed over the Continent or living in a new Jewish nation that Europe could voluntarily create somewhere on the Continent. I have some ideas where this could be done, but essentially it would be up to the Europeans to decide, and it would have to be something that Europeans and especially those now living in lands that might be dedicated to the newly arriving Jews, would have to decide for themselves.

In return, Europe would return all its Muslims back to Muslim countries where they would be better integrated and would not have Christian women and girls around to tempt them into rape, nor European train systems or undergrounds to bomb. Europe would gain, Jews could be relocated to safety, and Muslims could live peacefully among their own, and the former israel could be turned over to the Palestinians to destroy without harming human life except for their own.

Everybody wins.

Good heavens! I may have to move to France now to try to escape Obamunism ?????

Seriously, if this is true, it’s about time! They were totally losing their identity in France but it’s awful they waited this long to try to take it back.

We need to pay very close attention to how this plays out!

Yes, I think the French have grown balls. They’re about the only Western country to have done so. Now they’re leading the way.

The French can be proud of the following:

French fries
Madame Curie
French kisses
perfume
French bread and its wonderful offspring: sourdough
denim
art
cathedrals
the Three Musketeers
Cajuns

And, my favorites: Therese of Lisieux, and Catherine Laboure.

My sarcasm meter frequently malfunctions, but the last one on your list was a joke, right? I’ve been in a Deux Chevaux, and was unimpressed, or maybe I was just insufficiently educated to appreciate the marvelous engineering. Anyway, I would like to add a few to your list of people for whom the French can be proud:

Lafayette
Victor Hugo
Alexis de Toqueville
Louis Pasteur
Jacques Cousteau

Also, France seems to have produced more than its share of notable mathematicians like DesCartes, Pascal, Fermat, Cauchy, Poincaré, Fourier, LaPlace, etc.

This campaign will be forgotten just as soon as the French left is back in power—count on it.

In a way, modern day American reminds me of the French 3rd Republic. Those versed in their history will know this does not portend a happy ending.

*** FRENCH POLITICS AND CULTURE PING LIST *** FREEPMAIL ME IF YOU WANT TO JOIN ***

This has been a hot, very controversial topic in France ever since it was announced. I will do some more research. and post it so you all can stay informed.

The question of “French Identity” has always existed as a cultural concept. Patrimoine, heritage. family, history, food, wine, customs. It has recently been threatened by groups who do not come to France to be integrated and become French. You know the story.....

The 'Deux Chevaux' (yeah, two horses - as in power - sounds about right) taught me everything I'll ever need to know about defensive driving...;-) That ought to count for something, non?

I guess we can rule out the Brits doing the same. Imitating the French would be a blow to national pride (if they have any left).

I paint the French with a rather wide brush here. I’m not particularly careful how I do it, and at times I’m not entirely fair about it.

The French carping about the U.S. and it’s citizens causes my free flowing commentary.

That being said, I defend the right of every nation to defend it’s culture. If France wants to promote it’s culture, I back it in that effort 100%.

About the only way I’ll draw the line with any nation promoting it’s culture, is if part of that culture involves the killing or mistreatment of it’s citizens or neighbors.

IMO, France should be very concerned with certain things taking place on it’s soil today. I lay that at the feet of the globalist planners.

There but for the grace of God, goes us.

We need a severe overhaul and strengthening of our immigration and naturalization policies, with the protection of our culture in mind. I believe it should involve a twenty year moratorium on immigration across the board, with some groups outright banned as long as the terrorist climate remains what it is world-wide.

Then we need to buck up enforcement.

Perhaps if they printed the words to the national anthem on matchbooks the youths would be more likely to sing it during their car burnings?

Where we can we get ourselves an Eric Besson? Where can we find someone to call out the multi-cultural BS we are fed on a daily basis? I want a leader who’ll defend our country and our culture and be proud to do so.
