My thoughts exactly. A POS like Kerry cheapened what a Silver Star meant.
I think being referred to as “Dai uy” is a high compliment...any vets know the translation?
Kerry doesn’t deserve his name mentioned anywhere near this hero.
One a Hero; the other (Kerry) a gutless COWARD, IMO.
That’s “captain” in Vietnamese.
Means “Captain”
There is no comparison. However I read the entire article.
Senator James Webb of Virginia and fellow Democrat in the US senate with John F. Kerry helped Captain Jack obtain the well deserved the Citation and eventual Silver Star.
I am sure that Webb will use this fact in his Reelection Campaign of 2012 while he stands on the podium with both Kerry and "The ONE".
Thanks...my guess is that in Vietnam, the moniker “Captain” when applied to someone means much more than just rank...it is probably rife with undercurrents of higher respect and meaning.
This great man, Jack Nicholson, and Chesley Sullenberger (Miracle on the Hudson) overcame their fears to do what was right. This lesson can not be taught enough.
WHY is it taking so long to award these medals??
