On behalf of the Family Security Foundation I wish to inform you about an exciting grass roots project that we are undertaking in cooperation with a number of other liberty loving groups.
FSF has joined with the Hudson Institute and others to form a "Committee to preserve American Liberties", whose purpose is self-explanatory. The members of the committee will meet for a symposium. The Symposium, Reclaiming American Liberties, will focus on three major subjects, with sub-topics, and our countrys top speakers, writers, thinkers and commentators will be invited to speak at the all day event. Each subject will have four speakers. The three macro subjects are The Economy, Foreign Policy/National Defense and Regaining our Sovereignty (language, culture, history, education).
In each category, the Symposium will explore how the federal government has moved us quite far away from our founding principles and then outline what we as citizens can do to get or country back on track. We plan to take what is discussed that day and roll it into consumer products such as Voter Guides, pamphlets, DVDs and/or CDs, perhaps a book, and distribute to the citizenry for use at town hall meetings and in the voting booth. We are planning to ride the crest of Americans new-found passion for the preservation of their country, and to supply them with material from our countrys best thinkers to help them in that quest.
We are creating a grass roots groups called Freedom Rising to link the policy people with the grass roots. Here in Vermont (FSF is a national group, but I am from Vermont) we work closely with the local Tea Party movement, the 912 Group, the Campaign for Liberty, various veterans who are concerned about the plight of liberty, etc. We believe that this project is very timely and would serve well as a resource for Freepers who are engaged in local activism.
The symposium will take place on January 13th, so the material should be ready sometime after that. We have started to contact other conservative groups involved in the battle to share the material with. The idea is bring together policy makers and grass roots activism in a unified effort to win our freedom back. If Jim likes the idea, perhaps Free Republic could play a key role disseminating material to concerned citizens.
Jim, is this something the Free Republic would be interested in taking advantage of?
Sounds good,a link to whats up and ready now would be helpful.
