RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Convicted sniper John Allen Muhammad will die by lethal injection when he is executed next month, Virginia officials said Tuesday.
Muhammad declined to choose between lethal injection and electrocution, so under state law the method defaults to lethal injection, Virginia Department of Corrections spokesman Larry Traylor said.
Muhammad is scheduled to be executed Nov. 10 for the October 2002 slaying of Dean Harold Meyers at a Manassas gas station during a string of shootings.

Only 6 years on death row? I would have thought it would be another 10 or 15 years before he’d run out of appeals.

Wall, bullet, rifle, aim for heart.... BANG. Next. Simple, quick, cost effective, and permanent.

I have to admit...he is going to die a hell of a lot quicker than I expected. In Florida we still have guys who commited murders in the late 1970s and early 1980s still on death row.

Here is a case crying out for a firing squad. I don’t think there’d be a shortage of volunteers, either.

There was a thread last week about how the families of the victims are lining up to witness this. They might have to seek a larger venue.

I really don’t understand why the prison system is required to accommodate the supposed religious scruples of people who ARE IN PRISON FOR DOING THINGS PROHIBITED BY THEIR SELF-ASSERTED RELIGIOUS AFFILIATIONS.

And while I take no delight in anyone's death, I will NOT be sad to see this creep go.

Something stinks here. Reminds me of Timothy McVeigh and how they wanted to expedite his execution, before other facts or witnesses emerged.
There is more to this story, IMHO.

No government power to kil? That’s the same tired argument that the Chicago Libune and all the other death penalty abolitionists use. It would allow monsters like Muhammad to live out their days paid for by our tax dollars. Until people stop breaking the first commandment, the government and a jury of your peers needs to reserve the right to carry out appropriate and fitting punishment. I can’t think of anything more fitting for Muhammad.

And while I take no delight in anyone's death Was it Clarence Darrow who said, "I never killed a man and never really wanted to, but I've savored a good many obituaries."? I, personally, will delight in his death and only wish it could have come sooner, and been more painful.
I have no qualms about hanging as a method of execution, preferably with a short drop and long, slow death by asphyxiation.

The California “Night Stalker”, Richard Ramirez is still sitting on Death Row- 20 years since being convicted of 17 murders and countless attacks.
A cold case in San Fran swas solved last week, tying it to Ramirez with DNA. Detectives are uncertain how many people this freak killed, but it is thought to be far above 17.

I really dont understand why the prison system is required to accommodate the supposed religious scruples of people who ARE IN PRISON FOR DOING THINGS PROHIBITED BY THEIR SELF-ASSERTED RELIGIOUS AFFILIATIONS. Do prisons make special allowances for members of the KKK to continue to practice their hate while in prison? Islamic supremacists should not be afforded any such "support" in prison either.

Once upon a time, this evil man was but a suckling babe, full of hope and potential.
All of which he wasted, choosing instead to do evil and reaping the just rewards of an evil life.
He has deprived himself of the rewards of a well-lived life, and deprived us of whatever good he may have done ... replacing it all with hatred, murder, and terrorism.
That loss, and even worse the possible (probable?) loss of his soul to eternity in Hell, is an incomparable tragedy.
Nevertheless, it is justice ... and he brought it on himself.
