RICHMOND, Calif. — Police believe as many as a dozen people watched a 15-year-old girl get beaten and gang-raped outside her high school homecoming dance without reporting it.
Two suspects were in custody Monday, but police said as many as five other men attacked the girl over a two-hour period Friday night outside Richmond High School.
"She was raped, beaten, robbed and dehumanized by several suspects who were obviously OK enough with it to behave that way in each other's presence," Lt. Mark Gagan said. "What makes it even more disturbing is the presence of others. People came by, saw what was happening and failed to report it."
The victim remained hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Maybe they saw what happened to the kid in Chicago who tried to intervene, which doesn’t explain why they couldn’t have walked away and called the police.

...I would say that the 1st 3 “dehumanized” her plenty. “West Contra Costa Unified School District”?! What the hell is that? This has become a recurring topic. Extreme violence with onlookers gawking and doing nothing. As if they’re living out a video game fantasy.
Yes, it is a sad day. But I have a question, what if a licensed to carry citizen was to pull a gun and shoot one of the attackers? How much trouble would the CCL shooter be in? When the laws protect the criminal more than those that protect the innocent we as a society are dammed.
According to the Contra Costa times she was walking to a destination hoping to catch a ride home with her dad and the guys (she was familiar with) called her over and she (unfortunately) guzzled down some hard liquor and passed out.
People were TAKING PICTURES of her being raped/robbed ect while she was semi passed out.
The word got around to a house party and someone (a decent human) thought whoa this is too wrong and called police.
So basically she was getting raped by anyone who felt like helping themselves.
The people watching are also being sought and will be looking forward to criminal charges.
Richmond was a uncivil cesspool when I lived in Cali 20 years ago I can only imagine what it is like 3 generations later. No strike that I dont want to even imagine.

Since this was CA, I assume the CHL holder would be jailed and sued by all the perps.

Had the Guardian Angels been there, we would have intervened. As a civilization we all have to get past this idea of “not getting involved” and “we might get hurt” and “leave it to the police”.
I am not saying we should take the Law into our own hands. But I am saying that the Law provides us all with the ability and excuse to defend ourselves and others, and to prevent crime from creating victims.
This is good and right and just, and it is about bloody time we took responsibility for the outcomes we want in our Civilization, and stopped making excuses for inaction.
There are many, many things worse than “getting hurt” or even “getting killed”. I suggest that what happened in this case is one such “worse thing”: a dozen people watched while a girl was gang-raped. How could they look themselves in the mirror? How could they walk with a straight spine after that? What claim could they ever again make to having Self-Respect?
How pathetic is that. Bloody shameful.

I remember seeing a map showing a correlation between high crime rates and Dem strongholds. As soon as conservatives take back the country we need to change the laws to permanently revoke voting rights from this kind of scum of society so they are no longer able to keep voting in the political scum of society.

I understand the sentiment you mean, but sometimes the very best or only thing you can do is watch, and photograph, and be the very best witness for the Crown that you can possibly be.
It may be suicide, for example, for a single unarmed person to attempt an intervention against an armed gang of violent hoodlums, alone. Dialing “111” (or “911” for you Yanks) and being a witness might be the only sensible thing to be done.
Such a person should not face the risk of prosecution for “watching”. And anyone who was also “watching” but out of amusement rather than as a witness would have an automatic defense available to them, if needed — so it might not be practical to charge them for “watching”.
Perhaps a better thing to do could be to subpoena all “watchers” and charge them with Obstruction of Justice if they refuse to serve as witnesses for the Crown.
This tragedy happened partially because Richmond is so gang ridden. The city council turns its head and says oh no not gangs we just have youths very enthusiastic about their neighborhoods ( true story).
Two private security guards who were to patrol the areas around the buildings were sent home early so as to avoid overtime charges. Half and hour later the ordeal began. 4 Richmond on duty PD were inside the gym and NO ONE went to notify anyone. Richmond is a dump and will continue its descent into third world hell because the enclaved liberals will not do anything to change the slave mentality of the residents. I am so glad to be out of there

When I went to HS in Chicago back in the stone ages, we'd have ONE school administrator, usually 'my buddy', an Assistant Principal, Mr Burke. We'd maybe have ONE teacher to help operate the 'Record Player'(1), but there were NO COPS. We didn't need any, we were civilized.

(1) Record Player: a machine that made music come out of round vinyl thingys called 'records'. These Record thingys were a bit larger than a CD or DVD and had a big hole in the center. They'd mount on a spindle in the 'Player' and drop down to a disc that rotated at 45RPM. An arm on this 'player' would swing over and lower and a needle on the bottom would go into grooves on the 'record'. If the needle was placed properly music would come out of the speaker (yes kiddies, only one speaker) in the 'Record Player'. This 'Record Player' thingy was Box shaped with a hinged lid, and it operated on things called Vacuum Tubes. Most were heavy as 'heck' and you had to be careful not to drop or jar it, or the Vacuum Tubes would break.

According to the article there were four police officers assigned to the dance for security. It must be an extra-rough HS if one or two cops is not enough.
You know, we should start a mission to offer white students a civilized education in deep dark urban America. Kind of a minority outreach program. Maybe we should call it the National Association for the Advancement of Civilized Peoples. Something like that. I can’t imagine the press would object to people volunteering to advance their race - now would they?
No kidding. But that 11.2% is for the whole District. This school is only 2% white. The school is 78% Hispanic.
I wouldn't send my kids there, or to any school in that district. I'd move first.
