VW is opening a plant in Chattanooga and will be hiring 1,200 for production. They started taking applications on line today and have received over 5,000 and the application period runs through November 15th.

This plant is about 45 miles south of me. Rumor has it that Audi is going to build a plant right next to VW. A neighbor of mine is a pipe fitter and is already working on the VW plant. Chattanooga is all ga-ga about VW. It'll be interesting to see how folks in these parts like working for a German company. I don't think it's going to be quite like they expect.....

At least they were smart enough to take apps online. Could you imagine what would happen if they had an open employment call at some physical site?

Last month, my DIL attended a job fair in South Dakota. Every employer told the applicants to apply online. Almost everyone there had ALREADY filled out all the online applications. And South Dakota is doing relatively well in this economy.
