CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) Nevada Republicans who supported Ron Paul in last year's GOP presidential contest announced a political action committee Monday to oppose the U.S. Senate bid of former state party chairwoman Sue Lowden.
Robert Holloday, spokesman for the Fair Nevada Elections PAC, said Lowden's handling of last year's state convention when delegate selections were stopped amounted to betrayal.
"Sue Lowden's leading role in improperly halting the delegate election disqualifies her for any position of trust in government," Holloday said. "Our group hopes to raise awareness of the dismal record of Sue Lowden and to oppose her election to the Senate."
. . . . .
Nevada's 2008 delegation dispute began when Paul supporters were poised to win delegates at the state party convention in Reno and the party abruptly shut down the convention.
Later attempts to reconvene failed because it couldn't get enough Republicans to attend, and the state party selected delegates to the national convention. The Paul supporters held a rogue convention and named their own delegation, but the Republican National Committee ruled that it wasn't unauthorized.
The RNC then helped broker a compromise announced two days before the national convention in St. Paul, Minn., where Arizona Sen. John McCain received the nomination. At the same time, the RNC Committee on Contests issued a scathing report that slammed the Nevada GOP for appointing, rather than electing, its 34 delegates and 31 alternates.

I don’t care for Ron Paul, but this is ridiculous. A lot of heavy handed old-school rinos are getting testy that their power is being tested. I just wish the rinos would fight the rats as hard as they fight the base.
Ping
So I truly hope Tarkanian wins the GOP primary in Nevada and goes on to defeat Reid.
I’ve drank the third-party kool-aid. No more RINOs. I’ll write-in Reagan if I have to.
This race is so important. We have a great chance of beating Reid..I pray we don’t screw it up. Do we know, for a fact, that Lowden isn’t ok? I don’t care about Ron Paul. Frankly, I’m tired of his name.
Tarkanian and Lowden according to polls I’ve seen posted here and elsewhere perform about the same against Reid. Both win the matchup at this early date.
Lowden is the establishment’s preference.
Conservatives seem to be rallying to Tarkanian.
I’m not certain about their stances. My inclination in general is to support the one the establishment doesn’t want particularly if polls for each are interchangeable. But I won’t say her policies are objectionable or his are favorable because I don’t know.
I’ve seen Tarkanian and I like him, a lot. But this seat is so important that I just don’t want to blow it. Other seats we can make a real principled stand on. But if she’s not so bad, and the party digs its heels in, I just don’t know. I have to do my own research on her.
Give me a break. Bob Beers is one of the finest Conservatives in the state of NV, the equivalent of Tom McClintock in CA.
McClintock didn’t rig a state convention to ensure all the delegates went to his boy, John McCain.
Sorry, McCain or Paul, they were all turd sandwiches.
And yet Beers went out of his way, stuck his neck out, for that “turd sandwhich” known as John McCain.
