These awards are so corrupt. I actually worked on a contract that was an earmark for one of Murtha's pet companies that has a Johnstown office. This money is guaranteed to the contractor on a non-competitive basis. When the contractor does not get their way, they just call up Murtha's office who then threatens your funding. It is corrupt to the core.
When you let a group susceptible to being bribed write the laws against bribery then you will get corruption. What else would you expect? The bribe is simple: give me campaign donations that I can spend on campaigns or just keep until I retire and spend any way I like and I will give you contracts. Perfectly legal. Perfectly common. Perfectly corrupt. That’s our system. That’s our Congress.
