Kabul, Afghanistan (CNN) - Fourteen Americans died in a pair of helicopter crashes in Afghanistan on Monday, NATO's International Security Assistance Force said.
In the deadlier crash, a helicopter went down in the country's west.
"Seven U.S. service members and three U.S. civilians were killed," an ISAF statement said. "Those injured include 14 Afghan service members, 11 U.S. service members and one U.S. civilian."

Heroes all. May they and their loved ones find wings.
I don't like the indecision anymore than you but I don't really see the connection between that and this crash.
Prayers for these poor people and their families.
Prayers for the families. Gloating over American Military deaths is in poor taste and unfitting for Conservative forums.
Obama: “Fourteen more dead, and McChrystal’s still riding me for a decision. What to do . . . what to do . . . what to do . . . what to do . . . . *I know!* I’ll go raise some more cash for the Democrat Party or take Aunt Ester on another taxpayer paid $2 million dollar dinner date to Manhattan. That always makes me feel better.”
Prayers for the families.
Speaking as a veteran, I can assure you that's a pretty d*mn strong connection.
Obama just surpassed GW Bush in Golf games.
RIP great warriors.
Possibly pilot or ATC fatigue from running 12-20 hours a day 7 days a week because there are not enough troops in theater and everyone is having to pull extra duty to compensate while the President goes an plays golf a record amount of times instead of making a FRIGGIN decision!!!!!
Is that connection enough?
More and more like the Carter years every single stinkin day. I am glad I retired from the AF before this clown took office, but I weep for my friends who are still in and enduring this crap.
I can rationalize being there to kick ass as needed. I can’t rationalize being there for nation building. I’m just not as compassionate as GWB or as cowardly as BO.

I agree 100% w/commish. And I'd also add on that morale over there is dipping from our service members wondering why the hell the One, his Chicago mafia & his czars aren't answering the call of their commanders. This administration is about as useful as a wad of used t.p.
If these were Blackhawks and this happened at night, there are no visible running lights except in the IR region so you would need NVG’s to keep track of surrounding A/C. Fatigue can definitely be a factor especially with ATC and pilots pulling long hours due to not enough help. I for one put this up to the dithering of the pos in the white house. I know I am making several suppositions, but having been there and done that, I can make a connection.
The scene of Bush golfing in Fahrenheit 911 comes immediately to mind. Somehow, I doubt Moore will be doing an update with a running total of Dr. Chicago's tee times.
Same way same day?
Better yet, time for another round of golf.
Amen.
Oh, no! Prayers sent for the families and for our nation.
Prayers for these soldiers and their families. May the Lord bring their families comfort in their time of grief and sorrow.
From what I have been hearing there were three helicopters involved. There was a midair collision which downed two helicopters but there was also a solo crash elsewhere. It sounds like this tragedy happened on the same day (or night). The aircraft accident team is still trying to piece together what happened. JM
We have gone full circle. It’s the 1970s and Jimmy Carter all over again.
May God bless these heros and their grieving families.
Thats horrible.
what types of Helicopters were they?
IIRC, there was a Hawai'i DoH announcement shortly after his visit took place. Perhaps Soetero spent the larger part of the hour checking out grammy's copies of his original BC and the one Hawai'i's DoH had on file, the one he wrote about in his memoirs. He could've been check with Emmanuel and Axelrod on what the best they might get out of the DoH as far as a talking-points script.
If visiting Toot was that urgent, how could be possibly expect any more urgent treatment from Barry for our soldiers?
HF
Prayers for familys and loved ones. Damned sad.
I thought I understood a correspondent on CBS say that the Taliban claims to have shot down one of them upon take-off.
So far the investigators have discounted hostile fire as a cause but the investigation is in progress. I have seen times when hostile fire is initially discounted but later is found to be the cause.
I believe a Chinook crashed into terrain, and a Blackhawk and an Apache collided in flight.
Ouch. Was it weather-related or did one of the pilots mess up and cause the collision?
“I don’t like the indecision anymore than you but I don’t really see the connection between that and this crash.”
More troops would mean more aviation assets.
More aviation assets means better maintenance, and crew rest between missions.
