BREAKING NEWS: Letters sent to Chairman of FCC reveling true goals of Net Neutrality
MyFreePress ^ | 10/25/2009 | J. Michael Fuentes

I just read a phenomenal article. There are some quotes in it from some letters sent to the Chairman of the FCC:

“These network neutrality rules are needed for people of color and low income individuals to be creators of Internet content that is relevant to their communities, not just consumers of content that is profitable for big cable and phone companies.”

“the signers of this letter would like nothing more than for our communities to earn the title of “bandwidth hogs.” …using the Internet to create and distribute content that allows us to control our

“If you like the idea of having some government agent knocking on your door, because your website isn’t diverse enough, then support net neutrality”

- What a load of horse$hit. Nobody is saying anything of the kind. Just leave our connections ALONE. No govt OR corporation tracking our movements, bytes, or website visits. No capping, throttling, choking or otherwise robbing us with “usage fees”.

THE END.

A “NO TRESPASS” sign in the yard works wonders.

Net Neutrality is a load of bunk. It’s nothing more than the Fairness Doctrine for the internet.

You may have an interesting “story,” deserting the military after you’ve volunteered to serve.

But FR is not a place to pimp your blog. That’s not what FR is all about.

Theo, this man served his two years in the army honorably and did not re-up for more years. That is not deserting from the military and you should not falsely accuse him of such a serious action. What you are saying is not true. Please go everywhere you posted the slander and fix it.

I served in the Army for six years. Planned to make it a career but I could not stomache Bill Clinton as Commander in Chief so when my last enlistment was up I did not reenlist. Everyone has their own reasons for enlisting and their own reasons for not staying in. I see nothing wrong in anyone being in the Military then getting out once their time is up if they disagree with going to war or any other reason. We have a volunteer force and anyone can get out when their time is up for whatever reason.

The “people of color” will not be the actual new bandwidth hogs. They will become the tools of people like ACORN’s founder, Wayne Rathke.

From this government speak it is obvious that Internet content will be regulated so that “people of color and the low income” will have their content forced on private web sites or at tax payer expense they will be given bandwidth by taking some away from other paying sites to get out their “message”. Of course that “message” will be dictated by radical group like ACORN and likely the Obama White House. If Obama succeeds by 2012 free speech will be virtually dead.

I had no idea that someone could serve in the Army for a mere 2 years, and then be done with it. I’m aware of the “National Call to Service program,” which calls for 2 years of active service, followed by 2 more years in an active status in the Selected Reserve. From the way myfreepress described it, he served only 2 years and then left.

It’s clear that myfreepress is here simply to promote his blog — the only threads he comments on are ones he’s started, which all point to his blog. He hasn’t even been around long enough to know what a “bump” is ( http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2370930/posts?page=5#5 ). I guess I’ve always seen FR as a place to discuss the news, not merely to promote yourself.

Someone needs to say welcome. Just a note so you understand, FreeRepublic has been around since 1997- long before blogs and even forums, this site was web 2.0 when 1.0 was still in its infancy. With that said, many people have been concerned about ‘blog pimps’- ie, a lot of new posters who come just promote their own blog with no intention of actually participating in the community. We also get a lot of spammers. Members determine the difference based on community involvement.

To FreeRepublic, community comes first. There is actually (with very few exceptions) a negative view of self-promotion here. It mostly is cultural with people coming from the web 1.0 perspective.

Your blog seems fine to me, just remember that as a new member of a community, you are going to hit the gauntlet of having to prove you aren’t just another spammer.

Welcome again. I suggest spending some time reading and responding to existing threads before you post your blog a lot. That will help you understand how the FR community works.

Thank you for the welcome. I was going to start reading other post last night, but all the sudden I was attacked by Theo, and had no time....

I am not a spammer, my blog makes me NO money (actually it is costing me money) and it’s sole purpose is to give people my age and younger a way to express themselves and reach others in that age group.

Once again thank you very much for your support, I will make sure to post comments on other articles. I was actually just in the middle of reading one :)

There is good information here I am going to post on my site.

When you criticize another FReeper, it’s good manners to ping them. It’s part of the FR culture.

How do you PING someone, and what exactly does that do?

That's one of those cool features in Free Republic you won't find in other boards. It alerts people to specific comments, it puts an alert at the top of the page (in red) that says Ping. To do this, simply put that person's screen name in the To: field on the top. For example, I am pinging Theo to this as well, so as you can see at the top of this response, both of your names are in the To: line. This alerts Theo to the comment, not just you.

In Free Republic we have 'ping lists' where some people own a topic and ping groups of people to it so whenever there are posts on a certain topic, you will get an alert to this.

Look at it like a manual RSS feed.

Full agreement, FRiend. Debating the way forward is fine but fighting among ourselves is not only counterproductive it is against forum rules.

Some FReepers forget that at times... but we mostly get along. ;0)

When the mods review this article, they may move it from the News section to the Bloggers section, since technically your blog isn’t a news organization. Just an FYI. Don’t panic if/when it happens. It’s their job to move stuff around that doesn’t belong where it was posted and it’s nothing personal.

No problem, it seems most everyone looks in all the forums so it doesn’t make much of a difference to me. I am just glad I found a community willing to listen to my Generations point of view :) Almost gave up yesterday, felt to alone.

Most bloggers that do that are trying to make money. My site is free and contains NO ads. It isn’t really even my Blog, well I built it, but it is open to the public and meant for everyday people to write articles about their view of the news. Often times news organizations are biased and hide the real truth!

We also run an actual paper for my wife. www.westcoastbarrelracingtimes.com, soon I will try and get an actual publication put together of nothing but articles posted by citizens. We need to take control of our news again. What happened to Town Criers?
