FL 2010: Republican Senate Nomination May Come Down to a Hug [Crist-Obama hug]
NBC Miami ^ | 2009-10-25

Marco Rubio capitalizes on a photo of Charlie Crist hugging Barack Obama.

BY CARLOS MILLER

Marco Rubio has less political experience than Charlie Crist. And he hasn’t raised nearly as much money in his run against the governor for U.S. Senate. And he still lags behind the governor in polls leading up the November race.

But he hasn’t hugged Barack Obama.

And that just may be his ace in the hole.

The former republican House Speaker has seized on a February photo that shows Crist hugging Obama as to why he is the better candidate.

And it appears to be working because he has recently swept 12 republican straw polls, tripled his fundraising and cut the governor’s lead in the polls by half.

Now the question remains: Will the hug go down as The Hug? As it did for John McCain when he hugged George W. Bush during the 2004 presidential election, which is described as the “defining moment” of McCain’s career?

Only time will tell but one thing is certain. Rubio is not the only republican who believes Crist is a closet liberal. The hug only seemed to cement that sentiment.

It wasn’t really the hug thats important to me. It was the way he wet himself over the federal money.

Florida is one of the hardest hit states in this recession, yet is dead last in getting stimulus money. Good going, Crist.

Crist is floodign the airways with commercial extolling his small government views, and his #1 rating by the Cato institute..however, he has yet to explain, let alone justify, his vote for Porkulus...that, IMHO, will the the club that Marco beats him over the head with..

Christ is a typical RINO. He would immediately become part of the Snowe/Collins/McCain/Voinovich/Grahamnesty SELL-OUT team if elected. This we DON’T need.

I am looking forward to voting next year. Rubio (twice I hope), and whoever opposes Ginny Brown-Waite (twice, maybe not even the same candidate).
From the desk of
cc2k:
Candidates I support: Doug Hoffman for Congress, NY 23rd (PayPal), David Harmer for Congress, CA 10th (website for info).

Please, spread the word about these important special elections on November 3, 209: New York’s 23rd congressional district and California’s 10th congressional district.

We are so proud here in SW Florida - this is where “The Hug” occurred . . . the home of Henrietta Hughes & Julio from McDonalds. (ugh)

After the humiliation of that lovefest visit, it would be so awesome if this hug would be what propels Rubio to defeat Crist.

Some things do come back to haunt ya - hope this happens to Crist!

I was happy and delighted to do so. I'm a civil guy. The president of the United States is the president of the United States," Crist said. "Especially when it's the first visit to Florida and I'm invited to be there. I have that kind of respect in my soul."

"The president of the United States"???

Cristi has NO respect, we have challenged him and Kurt Browning by NOT vetting the illegal alien and usurper in the White House, and they both are mum on this issue. Rinos and rats embraces one another!!!

I googled, have no idea what it is, but it made the point. W came in, Jeb and Crist etc were supposed to campaign, Crist bowed out at the last second and hooked up with McCain in Miami.
Crist also screwed Mitt for McCain in Florida last year, last minute.
Doesn’t this outcome make Charlie Crist, running for Florida governor, look prescient in refusing to be seen with Bush on the final day of the campaign? That was one of the delightful bits of news yesterday. Bush plans a FL. campaign trip solely to bolster Crist and the latter is the one who asked him to do it. And what does Crist do? He not only stiffs Bush, but he does it by joining John McCain at another rally! And guess who won the governor’s race? You guessed it, Crist. Smart guy.

BS!! He raised the tax on cigarettes to 1.00 per pack, AFTER Obongo already raised it. It drove Hava-a-Tampa in Ybor CIty to South America. I think they had been there since around the turn of the century.
