WASHINGTON (AFP) – A year ago, Barack Obama and Joe Biden were in the home stretch of a pulsating White House race, belting out speeches to pumped up crowds and days away from crushing Republican John McCain.
The Democratic duo, now president and vice president, are back on the stump again, but the euphoric crowds have thinned and the electrifying crusade for change seems somewhat sullied by the inevitable compromises of governing.
Taking time out from multiple crises, Obama has reeled off a string of appearances, polishing his own political skills in some of the few races scheduled a year before much more important 2010 mid-term Congressional polls.
Stumping for lagging Democratic gubernatorial candidates, and filling party coffers at big money fund-raisers, Obama is also trying to reassure members of his Democratic support base, as critical moments loom for his agenda.
Like many presidents, freed for a few hours from the burden of power, Obama appears liberated on the campaign trail, firing off sarcastic attacks on Republicans ...
Last week, at a Democratic fund-raiser in New York, he lambasted foes who mocked his failure to win the 2016 Olympics for his home-town Chicago.
"I mean, who's against the Olympics? -- what's up with that? -- You know? That's a sad thing, isn?t it?"

He could do with a shot of political adrenaline himself: his mid 50s approval rating in recent polls is holding steady, but is well below the soaring heights of the early days of his administration.

True, Obama made the fools forget that all their absurd leftwing schemes were wool to be pulled over the eyes of the sheeple while they stole what they wanted. They started to believe their own horsecrap and convince themselves that it was just what America needed and wanted. It’s very dangerous to start believing your own lies. They used to deny being liberals, now they wear that proudly and are on the way to being proud to be called socialists. If they ever proudly proclaim themselves the communist party USA which is what they are at heart they will never get another legitimate vote.
It is going to make a terrible traffic situation much worse. Daughter is hoping that classes are cancelled that day. I’m sort of P.O.’ed about that. So much for that tuition that was paid, right?

He can’t fill a venue in a liberal environment? Even at his worst numbers I think G.W.B. had no problems doing so. Although they were keeping news of the fundraises quiet as the candidates were publically running from him. I’d suggest Obama do the same, but he lives for the spotlight.
Obama’s only useful for candidates in deep liberal holds. Even then he’s not very likeable. He’s toxic everywhere else. His personal numbers only work for him because of his race. Minorities, youth and people who “feel” good about having someone who isn’t 100% white will show up and vote for him. Not for someone else without him on the ballot. That’s what Democrat’s are learning right now.

It seems like all he wants to do is travel, go on expensive and flashy dates in bright flashy places, go on lavish vacations, London for lunch/tea, Paris for dinner, Eat imported Pizza flown in with a chef from 1400 miles away, long overseas tours and speaking extravaganzas.
Back here, all he seems to do is campaign. He covers all the swing states like it was still October 2008. His speeches are all about what he wants, not at all about what America wants. Yet, he utters every sentence like he is speaking for all Americans and that his agenda is demanded by us.
And every word he utters has no truth but yet he makes it sound as though they do. All who oppose him have become a target for his wrath and retribution.
