MSNBC host Chris Matthews may now have the honor of having said the dumbest thing in the history of television. This past Thursday Matthews unfortunately allowed an imbecilic thought to pass from his brain to his mouth on his nationally televised cable news show.
Here's the moment of insanity on video:
Matthews: "The group in this country that most resembles the Taliban, ironically, is the Religious Right."It is a pet peeve of mine when a cable news host drops a bomb (no Taliban pun intended) of a statement right at the end of a segment and moves on to something else. He allows no time for a logical response to an illogical statement.
Does Matthews really think the Religious Right "resembles the Taliban?" Let's look at this objectively by comparing them.

Matthews needs to go. There is no call to refer to me as “close to the Taliban.”
The left is so terrified of losing the right to commit sodomy with goats that they overlook the very real threat to their political freedoms posed by the factions for whom sodomy with goats is no big deal.
Truth and logic mean nothing to the Liberal Left.
They FEEL it resembles the taliban.
The religious right would pray for his soul and then ignore his dumb ass comments............think about it Chris.
Quite simply, this says more about Chrissie and his personal demons than it does about the Taliban and the “Religious Right.”
Hey Matthews..isn’t it ‘ironic’ that an American President, that the corrupt american media claimed came from the ‘religious right’, was also the one that finally removed the Taliban from power?! Bill Clinton, who was a liberal, did nothing for 8 long years! It took the ‘religious right’ in America to stop the Taliban.
LOL..Matthews is such a moron.
Actually, we hear members of the loony left express the desire to do similar things quite often.
Mathews is a liberal idiot. He sees the success that Beck and Rush have achieved on so called “inflammatory language” and thinks he can get on that gravy train. He doesn’t know that you need some facts to back up what you say. Some talent helps too.
DOES THAT MAKE THEM THE ATHEIST LEFT?
(Did you notice I did not capitalize msnbc, I learned how important that was earlier in the week from a KOS report thread that to delegitimize FOX NEWS it must not be capitalized)
Didn’t some Dem Congressman make a similar comparison (Republican=Taliban) on the floor of the House back during the good old days of Impeachment?
Or was it a Senator?
do you want to see a group of people react like fanatical zealots right here in America? that’s easy.
walk into a crowded room... stand on a table and say any of the following:
1. “abortion has killed 10 times more Americans than all America wars combined”
2. “Glenn Beck is right. FOX is the only source of truth in media”
3. “Sarah Palin will save America”
4. “homosexuality is a mental disorder”
5. “Where’s the birth certificate?”
ANY of the above will make liberals run at you like the zombies in night-of-the-living-dead.
Again.
have the evangalists issued a fatwa against Matthews yet?
Or are they too busy cuttng hands off thieves and stoning adulterers and rape victims?
Sadly, some liberals seem to be believe that conservatives are a greater enemy than the Taliban and other terrorist regimes. Matthews’ dumb comment fits right in with a President who declared war on Fox News, but who bends over backwards to be nice to Iran, Russia, etc.
“”The group in this country that most resembles the Taliban, ironically, is the Religious Right.””
My Cousin’s wife told me that same thing, over a year ago. Almost word for word! She gets all her news from NPR. It’s on all day in her private office.
Whenever I hear that I ask them what has the religious right taken from them?
they can usually only come up with titty bar zoning or alcohol sales before noon on Sunday....really important issues
or they mention homosexual marriage and I then ask them if Bro is also in the religious right since he too opposes it
if they stick to just talking facts they are so easy
of course they won’t do that, they quickly dive into emotional low intensity rage and spout nothing but platitudes and cliches
Julian Bond referred to the “Taliban wing of the Republican Party”. He spoke as the head of the NAACP.
That’s the quote I remember. Thanks
"radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam in a country like America."
rosie o'donnell
typical moral equivalency of the secular humanists and commies and their sympathizers who prefer a permissive relativistic ethics
Anymore, I find it not really worth my while to engage the left in debate. The young ones, though that is a different matter. We have to get them if we are to get our country back and save from the likes of Obama.
Julian Bond is the quintessential hypocrite who has profited quite handsomely on the “racial divide” in America. Just like the Jesse Jacksons and Al Sharptons of this world. Julian is just a little more polished.
I call them the Talibatheists.
Of course you meant the NAALCP, the National Association of Liberal Colored People.
How them ratings coming along spitboy?
Pray for America
That was the last time Matthews ever said something smart. It was also likely the first time.
The contest for the dumbest thing ever said on TV is a king-of-the-hill sort of fight. Matthews has been king on multiple occasions.
As Ann says in response to “The Religious right’’’ line, ‘’As opposed to what, The Atheistic Left’’?
Of his 52 colleagues as full-time members of the department, 50 have Ph.D.'s, one has a "D.Phil." from Oxford, and one has a degree from France which is probably the French equivalent of a Ph.D.
So, Bond plays the part of “professor” very well. Does he have a tweed jacket with leather elbows? Smoke a pipe perhaps? Pontificate on command?
Most importantly, what history courses does he actually teach and do the parents who are paying out the ying yang for their kids’ education know their kiddies are being gypped?
Btw, I’m not making fun of college professors - I was attempting to make a joke regarding Bond’s playacting.
It is an insult and affront to every every colleague Bond works with at UVA. I’m sorry to say that from your description, it looks like a real life Animal Farm.
He's known for extremely vitriolic attacks on Republicans. No doubt that makes him more respected by his colleagues and students. (I must admit that I don't know any of his colleagues personally so that's just speculation.)
He boycotted the funeral of Coretta Scott King because he considered the church where it was held to be "anti-gay."
Wow, so gay trumps African American civil rights icon. What is this the pc version of rock, paper, scissors?
Hey randomhero
This Matthews character sounds like he attended the same class you did......
Bond has 5 children from his first marriage and remarried a few months after divorcing his first wife, so he doesn't appear to have a personal stake in the gay-rights crusade.
Maybe you should read my last post to you in the other thread and get back to me.
