My wife and I were just talking about the middle east situation a couple of hours ago, and I told her it was getting ready to blow up in our faces, and what open war in the Middle East would mean if the oil stops flowing. It's a powder keg waiting to go up, especially with Obama dissing Israel, letting Iran dick with nukes, and worrying about pissing Russia off.
And we're screwed if the gas pumps are empty because the whole ME is up in arms. Supplies for factories and jobs, goods and services, transportation to and from work, if anybody's even working... Trucking and trains transport most goods in this country, and if they're dead in the water, along with jets, then there's only about a 3 day supply of anything in stock in major metro areas. It'll be a disaster of epic proportions. I think the jackass in charge needs to start taking things a little more seriously.

OFuhrer WANTS this outcome.
With a good crisis (which can never be wasted -- cf. Rahm) he can do away with those pesky elections.

Obviously aimed at the Iraq government. Now who would have an issue with that bunch? This seems a bit different than the sectarian bombings of a few years ago in that the government was targeted, not another group of peaceful religious fanatics.
OZero promises we will be out of there by Aug 2010, just a month or so ago. I guess someone is jumping the gun a tad and wants to destabilize the place before that so we can have the specter of us bailing out, a replay of the helicopters leaving the US Embassy grounds in Saigon circa 1975.
Not to worry though, OZero has this on his plate and will get to it...in a few months.

Have to wonder if this was Iran’s promised “get even” for the IRGC killings last week, as they promised

Yeah, he probably spends Sunday mornings driving around town looking for just the "right church" he hasn't found in 10 months of traveling, vacationing, golfing and date nights.
Hard to find a half-black, half-white church with half Christian and half Muslim theology, I imagine.

It didn't take long for the effect of the surge to wear off, did it. As you say, the perception of weakness weakness attracts Islamic terrorists. Actual weakness such as the Obama Administration strives for, invites chaos.

You know, the thought crossed my mind that he MIGHT be at church, but what are the odds? I know of one time they all made the long journey to a nearby pew. Correct me if I missed one. Doesn’t he usually reserve Sunday mornings for basketball? Like you said, there are difficulties in finding a church that condones the values of such a Renaissance man. Not to mention churches that preach liberation theology aren’t on every street corner, even in D.C. Anyway, I’m sure he will get to this after he makes his decision on Afghanistan, pulls Fox’s press credentials, and we’re all vaccinated against H1N1.

The oil will NOT stop flowing. Of that, we can be sure. If Bin Laden said, “what are we going to do, eat it.” Once the oil is sold to ANYONE it becomes a part of international market and can be sold to anyone.
